General Vex is a villain from Ninjago TV series, serving as the main antagonist of the Ice Chapter of Season 11: Secrets of the Forbidden Spinitzu.
What Makes Him A Hate Sink?[]
- Though Ninjago has had a wide variety of villains, General Vex stands out for deciding to betray his own people for extremely pathetic reasons.
- He envied his people due to being the only one among them not being able to shapeshift. He became paranoid afterwards, claiming that they made fun of him behind his back, which was not true and they even stated otherwise, refusing to listen when they told him so.
- He attempted to manipulate Emperor Grimfax into going to war with his people. Fortunately, the emperor was a reasonable figure and did not grant this request, kicking him out of his palace for this.
- While a flashback painted him as harmless (as his initial plan for revenge against the Formlings failed miserably), this did not last. He discovered Zane and realizing that in addition ot his power, there was a way to wipe his memories clean. So he took advantage of the situation and manipulated him into becoming the Ice Emperor and with Vex becoming his advisor in order to corrupt him further.
- He took revenge on Grimfax by ordering the Ice Emperor to dethrone him, succeding in doing so which resulted in the Ice Emperor becoming the new ruler of Never-Realm.
- At his behest, Zane seized power over the Never-Realm, and froze the Formlings solid, leaving Akita, Kataru and Vex himself as the only Formlings that were not frozen.
- Due to him manipulating Zane into becoming the Ice Emperor, he is responsible for the Ice Emperor establishing a harsh rule for decades where Ice Fishers could barely find any fire in order to not freeze to death and lived in tough conditions due to a lack of resources to survive..
- While whether or not he was involved in this is unknown, Zane exterminated the yeti at one point, which was only possible due to Vex having erased his memories. What makes this worse is that if Krag’s personality was any indication, the yetis were a peaceful race.
- He tries to get Zane to kill Lloyd when he was defenseless and went as far as trying to do the deed himself when he hesitated. Thankfully, Zane recovers his memories at the last second and stops him.
- He also tries to kill them both after this happens.
