George Eacker (Hamilton)

George Eacker (based on the historical figure of the same name) is a minor antagonist from the 2015 Broadway musical Hamilton and the 2020 Disney film of the same name. He is a lawyer who insults Alexander Hamilton's name in front of Hamilton's son, Philip. He is responsible for fatally wounding Philip Hamilton during a duel.

What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]

While Eacker has a point that Alexander Hamilton was a scoundrel for his actions in the Reynolds affair, he does so in an unnecessarily cruel way.
He proceeds to insult Philip Hamilton as also being a scoundrel despite Philip being a relatively better person.
When challenged to a duel by Philip, Eacker interrupts him by arrogantly stating that he knows where to find him and then tells Philip to get lost because he's busy watching a play.
When Philip tries to greet Eacker politely on the dueling grounds, Eacker tells him to "skip the pleasantries" and get on with the duel.
When the duel finally commences and the two pace on the count of 10, Eacker shoots on the count of 7 rather than the required 10 leading to Philip getting immediately shot and fatally wounded. Presumably because he was too cowardly to allow for Philip to shoot him.
Gets little to no repercussions for his cheating actions.
