Gray Atkins is the abusive husband of Chantelle and a major antagonist of the British soap opera EastEnders. He first appears to be a charming, caring and loving man but is later shown to have a dark side to him which involves abusing his wife Chantelle. The abuse is both physical and psychological. The physical abuse includes hitting, beating and even punching her when he see fits. The psychological abuse includes belittling and bullying her which makes Chantelle feels like the guilty party and makes himself appear the victim. Therefore Chantelle does not say a word against him in the fear that if she does it will learn to serious consequences against herself. Gray ends up leaving her to bleed to death after he accidently push up onto a knife. When his reputation is threaten he can turn homicidal to keep his reputation present. He killed Tina Carter to prevent her from exposing his crimes.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He abuses and tortures his innocent wife for years on end. The abuse includes beating, hitting and even punching her when he thinks she deserves it.
- He forces himself on Chantelle so that they can have another child.
- A couple time Gray punched Chantelle so hard in the stomach it caused he to fall to the floor in pain whilst gasping for air.
- Broke his wife's arm once intentionally
- Made his wife hold her breath underwater for several minutes as a test.
- He refuses to let his wife leave after she was fed up of all the abuse over lockdown. This resulted in him pushing her onto a knife by accident. However he does not call an ambulance and is more worried about himself going to prison so leaves to buy some milk then drops the milk to make out that Chantelle had died by accident.
- He was going to blow his house up with he kids still present in the home but is taken out of it by Shirley Carter.
- He killed Tina Carter only to prevent her from exposing his crimes despite the fact her sister, Shirley stopped his from committing suicide.
- He killed Kush Kazemi after Kush saved him from being killed by the tube when Gray landed on the tracks after starting a fight with him for taking Whitney to Dubai.
- Attempts to kill Chelsea after she called on the police on him when he confessed killing Chantelle but Gray is prevent by the police.
- Taunts Karen that he killed her daughter and Gray even pointed at his eyes meaning that his eyes were the last thing Chantelle saw before she died which caused Karen to break down.
