Graydon Creed Jr. is one of the main antagonists in X-Men: The Animated Series, serving as the secondary antagonist of season 2 before later returning as the central antagonist in the episode "Bloodlines". He is the son of Mystique and Sabretooth, and the leader of an anti-mutant hate group called the Friends of Humanity (FoH for short).
He was voiced by John Stocker.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- Leads the Friends of Humanity to commit all sorts of hate crimes against mutants, including vandalizing mutant-friendly places and gathering angry mobs to physically hurt ordinary people who just look different. When Jubilee asks what mutants ever did to make him hate them so much, Creed simply replies with "you were born".
- Speaking of which, Creed calling himself a friend of humanity is very hypocritical even from a "mutants aren't people" standpoint. Excluding the incidents with Carly and Apocalypse's virus, his debut shows him and his group attacking Senator Kelly's pardoning announcement for Beast before later shooting up a bar full of people just to get a shot at the X-Men and then frame someone else for these crimes. He even risks shooting one of his own henchmen when Wolverine turns his back on him in the interrogation room in "Beauty & the Beast". Overall, his claims of being an extremist fighting an evil race don't really have a leg to stand on.
- Tries to have Jubilee, a prepubescent girl, executed.
- Helps Apocalypse spread the Legacy Virus throughout the public in hopes of killing all mutants, infecting 5,000 normal people in the process.
- Attacks Beast’s eye clinic before later kidnapping and threatening to kill his human love interest, Carly, despite the fact that Beast saved his life by carrying him out of Apocalypse’s burning lab two episodes prior.
- Tries to kill his mother Mystique as well as his mutant siblings, Rogue and Nightcrawler.
- He's a coward. Jubilee outright states when she's kidnapped that he wouldn't be so brave if her hands weren't tied in-universe, and that insult is proven correct when he gets cornered by Wolverine without his minions there to back him up. It's also implied that he never considered going after Sabretooth because he's afraid of him, which even the new FoH leaders point out when they drop him off at his father's doorstep.
- While he is somewhat insecure due to his parents' mistreatment of him causing him to hate mutants, his atrocious actions and behavior are much too irredeemably heinous for him to be tragic. His presumed death at Sabretooth's hands isn't played for sympathy at all.
- Unlike Apocalypse and other villains, Creed has no likable qualities or "Evil Is Cool" traits whatsoever, being generally the most despicable character on the entire show.
