The Green Goblin is the overarching antagonist of Marvel's Injustice series from the Injustice Fanon Wiki. his responsible for Iron Man's downfall into tyranny. He is voiced by Neil Ross.
The Green Goblin is indirectly responsible for a superhuman civil war between Spider-Man Iron Man, where various heroes, villains, innocents and criminals had died during the War. Because of Osborn finally gaining victory over his web-slinging archenemy by turning Iron Man into a tyrant.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
In General/Before Marvel's Injustice[]
- Like his comic book counterpart, he was the archenemy of Spider-Man, and caused him so much misery, like discovering the Web-Slinger's secret identity, threatening Aunt May, killing Gwen Stacy, orchestrating the Clone Saga, killing Ben Reilly, Peter and Mary Jane's unborn baby, faked Aunt May's death, the Identity Crisis event, Trying to make Peter into a Goblin heir through torture, causing Peter to give in, Blackmailing Peter into breaking him out of prison by kidnapping his Aunt May, ambushing him with the Sinister Twelve when he was free, trying and failing to kill Mary Jane the same way he killed Gwen, and so on, but unlike his comic book counterpart, Because of Spider-Man not going through events of Unmasked, Back in Black, One More Day, Brand New Day, One Moment in Time, New Ways to Die, Big Time, Spider-Island, Superior Spider-Man, and any of the other after One More Day events, causing Spidey to permanently maintain his identity permanently secret, the enhancements to his spider-powers and the extra spider-powers he gained from both the Spider-Queen and The Other, and more importantly his marriage with Mary Jane Watson, unlike his own comic book counterpart, and unlike his own comic book counterpart, Norman Osborn still remained as the Green Goblin, and he never became the Iron Patriot, the Super-Adaptold, and the Goblin King, so he stayed as the Green Goblin.
- While he is insane, he still has clear moral agency as he knows what he is doing, aware of right and wrong, moral and immoral, good and evil, etc, and he knows what he is doing is wrong, but just doesn't care.
- While his son Harry Osborn (Spider-Man's best friend) is mentioned in the Marvel's Injustice: Avengers Among Us prequel comics, but it is confirmed that he has no care for Harry.
- Unlike most versions of the Green Goblin, he lacks any comical, comedic, and classic traits and everything about this Green Goblin is played for shock, horror, drama, and nightmare fuel, meaning his is taken deadly seriously in- and out-of-universe, making this version of Green Goblin a pure Hate Sink.
- In the Marvel's Injustice universe, Sins Past has NOT been retconned in this universe, it is implied that he raped Gwen and killed her after raping her.
Marvel's Injustice: Avengers Among Us[]
- Killed the Daniel Berkhart Mysterio while stealing the late Quentin Beck's Mysterio equipment, modifying it to affect the Extremis-powered Iron Man. (It would be revealed a John Doe would take Berkhart's place as Mysterio)
- Murdered James Rhodes/War Machine and Happy Hogan, even kidnapped Pepper Potts and implants a dead man's switch into her heart. before manipulating Iron Man into killing her and their unborn daughter.
- Sets off a Mega C4 bomb in Stark Tower and three city blocks of New York City, which was linked to Pepper's heartbeat, thus her death causes it to detonate and killed hundreds, if not thousands of innocent people, along with Trish Walker (Hellcat), This led both Luke Cage and Jessica Jones to fall to the dark side.
- When the grief-stricken Iron Man confronts him. the Green Goblin mocks Iron Man for his misery, thus forcing him to kill the former in on last laugh. Not to mention that this is what turned Iron Man into the monster he is today.
- While it wasn't exactly right of Iron Man killing him, and Osborn's death was brutal, it doesn't make ham a scapegoat because he got what he deserved for everything he did, even though that was what the Green Goblin wanted Iron Man to do, to prove that his plan worked.
- Noticeably, his crimes are so heinous that practically everyone in the Marvel's Injustice universe, hero or villain, despises him. even the series most heinous villain Knull the Symbiote God, albeit for pragmatic reasons.
- In the Marvel's Injustice 2 non-canon ending, he uses Knull's ship to corrupt people into killing each other.
- His actions of corrupting Iron Man led him to corrupt some of the other members of the Avengers and New Avengers as well, what makes it even worse is that his actions of corrupting Iron Man also make him indirectly responsible for Hawkeye, Mockingbird, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Wonder Man, Falcon, Speed Demon, Kitty Pryde, Colossus, Firestar, Ice Man, Boomerang, Obadiah Stane/Iron Monger (who is Pure Good in his universe) and Mister Fantastic's deaths. This also makes him indirectly responsible for Miles Morales's defecting to Iron Man's side due to agreeing with the latter beliefs.
- In turn, he's also at fault for Winter Soldier's death as Miles accidentally murders him in a fit of rage. Bucky's death not only hurts Captain America and takes a toll on Spider-Man, but it also resulted in Miles being harshly disowned by Peter (which Peter would regret harshly disowning Miles).
- Although Iron Man is at fault for this, The Green Goblin is still indirectly responsible for the assassination attempt on Spider-Man's aunt May Parker (nee Reilly) and Spidey's wife Mary Jane Watson-Parker (which failed with Mary Jane, but succeeded with Aunt May) at Bullseye's hands under orders from Iron Man.
Trivia[]
- He was one of the first villains to be killed by Iron Man.
- For some reason, his first alternative costume is named Insurgency despite the fact he never joined Spider-Man's insurgency at all.
- While he only physically appeared once, the Green Goblin is still the posthumous antagonist of the entire Marvel's Injustice series as his corruption of Iron Man caused the events of the series, it's also highly implied Norman Osborn planned his own death to ensure Iron Man's corruption. Furthermore, his main universe counterpart also almost pulled a comparable scheme on the behalf of Doctor Doom and makes the Insurgency's attempts at stopping The Regime more complicated.
- His plan to drive Iron Man insane by putting him through "The Useless Girlfriend moment" is a reference to the Spider-Man storyline The Night When Gwen Stacy Died, set in the mainstream Marvel Universe, in that story, The Green Goblin kills Gwen Stacy and called her worthless and useless, even almost made Spider-Man break his moral code and kill him, and he seemingly got killed by his own glider.
- Almost every villain despises Norman Osborn and blame him for Iron Man's descent into tyranny - from tricking Tony Stark into killing his own pregnant wife Pepper Potts and their unborn daughter, destroying Stark Tower, and those three city blocks, killing hundreds, if not thousands to provoking Iron Man into killing him for his own sick amusement. Even Knull the Symbiote God of all people, who is just as evil as the Goblin and 3000 times more dangerous, considers him a poison that deserves to be destroyed, Although Carnage is pure evil, Cletus Kasady tells Osborn that he caused death and destruction with "boring old zombie makers" Kingpin is disgusted how Norman made Iron Man a tyrant and Wilson Fisk blames Norman Osborn for turning Tony Stark into a tyrant (Kingpin lost his criminal empire, years of his life's work and the sole things to keep the memory of his late wife Vanessa Fisk alive), On the other hand, Mysterio (the John Doe version) only hates him for stealing the late Quentin Beck's Mysterio equipment from on top of killing Daniel Berkhart, Therefore, he only thinks Green Goblin went too far for selfish reasons, Thanos considers him a remorseless monster for what he did to Iron Man, the same applies to all the heroes all with even Spider-Man stating that while he did not approve of Iron Man murdering Goblin, he couldn't blame him for it and was upset out of anger towards Green Goblin himself and disappointment towards Iron Man for afterwards and that Iron Man ended up helping Green Goblin win against Spider-Man himself.
- Because of this, he is often considered one of the evilest versions of the Green Goblin ever portrayed. He is the most disliked: not because people hate him, but because he lacks most of his classic, comedic and comical traits from the comics and the Raimi films and some dislike the concept of him being the one who corrupted Iron Man.
- Almost all the DC comic characters (even though there DLCs) despise Green Goblin for what he did to trick Iron Man into killing his beloved Pepper Potts and their unborn child, destroying Stark Tower, and making Iron Man kill him, and disgusted on how he caused Spider-Man so much pain and misery, Batman makes it clear that Osborn is worse than The Joker (he tells Iron Man that he is more insane then Joker), Superman is not happy to see Green Goblin, Wonder Woman is disgusted at Goblin's actions at the Stark Tower incident, All other Justice League members such as The Flash, the Green Lanterns, etc. have a undying hatred towards Goblin for causing Spider-Man pain and misery and his actions at the Stark Tower incident. The Joker thanks Green Goblin for proving his point of "one bad day", Lex Luthor is disgusted at Norman Osborn for what he did to make Iron Man to kill his wife and unborn daughter all to set a bomb in Stark Tower, all other DC comic villains such as Reverse-Flash, Sinestro, etc. are disgusted at Goblin for his actions.
- While being interrogated by Spider-Man, he revealed to Peter that the reason why he drove Iron Man to madness is because he was tired of losing to Spider-Man himself, and Spidey telling him that no matter what kind of power Iron Man might be influenced by, he cannot be corrupted. Green Goblin proved Spider-Man wrong with what he did to Stark Tower and the three city blocks of New York and died at Iron Man's hand, knowing that he finally defeated Spider-Man, and successfully claimed victory over his web-slinging nemesis.
- Considering the fact that the Green Goblin destroyed Stark Tower and those three city blocks, killing hundreds, if not thousands of people, he has the highest kill count of any version of the Green Goblin.
- Green Goblin is one of the main reasons why Iron Man became a tyrannical supervillain, The other is Black Widow, who encouraged his excessive actions after the Stark Tower incident.
- Unlike many versions of the character, Norman Osborn/The Green Goblin lacks the same humor and charm that many of his other versions have. He is a purely psychopathic Hate Sink earning the hatred of almost every single character in the franchise even the worst villains absolutely despise Norman Osborn.
