What Makes Them Despicable	Treating Rowley like garbage throughout the book
"Love to hate" factors	Rowley could simply be an unreliable narrator due to the way he was awfully characterized given the original could also be considered unreliable. He usually gets his comeuppance for his awful actions. Helping Rowley get a better grade at the end of the school year without any pragmatism. He acts more like his original self in the same chapter.

Gregory "Greg" Heffley is the main protagonist of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series and the main antagonist of the Spin-off book Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid.

What Makes Him a Hate Sink?

• He mistreatment of Rowley is turned up to eleven, in fact he spends almost the entire book doing nothing but treating Rowley like garbage.
• Forces Rowley to turn his journal into his biography despite the fact Rowley barley knows anything about his life before they met in the 4th grade.
• He abandoned Rowley in the woods when he sprained his ankle.
• He often makes Rowley do his chores for him by giving him cheap awards such as a Halloween bag with only 3 jawbreakers and raisins in it and pictures which merely say "Good Boy Award".
• He forced Rowley to do him many more favours when he repaid him for getting him out of a bad birthday party.
• He repeatedly disrupted Rowley when he tried to study for a maths test in the library and got them both kicked out When Rowley retaliated.
• He copied his maths test off Rowley going as far as to copy his name.
• During a sleepover after arguing with Rowley over an incident that was Greg's fault he made him sleep near the window all night to the point he was forced to pee out the window.
• On another sleepover he gave Rowley a broken knight figurine when his mom made him gave a toy away as punishment for stealing his spare cookie, Greg got jealous when Rowley pretended to have fun with it and stole it from him and flushed it down the toilet.
• When Rowley shows him his journal Greg threatened to change it further by turning Rowley into a drooling idiot called Rupert if he got greedy which makes him hypocritical since he forced Rowley to make his diary all about him.
• In Awesome Spooky Stories he pretended to be possessed and proceeded to break and wreck things around Rowleys house leading to him getting kicked out by Rowley's parents.
