~ Gryff threatening Lord Rodrik Forrester. |
Gryff Whitehill is the secondary antagonist in Telltale's Game of Thrones. He is the fourthborn son of Lord Ludd Whitehill, introduced as an arrogant, incompetent spoiled brat but as the game goes on, he becomes much more sadistic and evil, taking enjoyment out of the pain of the innocent.
He was voiced by Sacha Dhawan.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- It goes without saying that he's a hotheaded bully with an inflated sense of self-worth, having his men constantly push around and demean the people within Ironrath's walls while relying mainly on fear and obedience to get his way.
- This also makes Gryff a hypocrite, mocking Rodrik for being arrogant (as well as a "cripple with half a face" due to his physical state after the Red Wedding).
- He's the definition of a coward. He'll beat up a defenseless cripple like Rodrik but when the tables are turned, he'll start groveling and bawling like a baby. He also likes to hide behind his men on horseback while they do all the work during combat.
- According to Gwyn, Gryff abuses the dogs in Highpoint's kennels, as they still whimper whenever he walks by.
- He mocks the child Ethan's death in his older brother Rodrik's presence.
- He pushes Rodrik and Talia—the latter of whom is only a young teenager—down into the mud, threatening to outright kill the latter if the former doesn't stay down.
- He tries to forcefully marry Elaena, threatening to kill her entire family along with House Forrester if she doesn't submit.
- He brutally beats up Maester Ortengryn because he failed to heal one of his men who got sick after Talia bit him (in self-defense when the man was robbing the kitchen).
- He leads an ambush at a port town when Rodrik goes there to try to save Asher, resulting in one of the two Forrester brothers' deaths, as well as several sellswords.
- If Asher dies, Gryff and Ludd will decapitate his corpse and then force Asher's younger brother Ryon to hold his head on a spike just to taunt Rodrik, even joking about the dogs eating the rest of his corpse.
- If Rodrik is still alive in Episode 6, Gryff tries to cut off Ryon's legs so he can't escape while being used as a human shield, instructed by Ludd to kill Ryon if anything happens to the former.
- If Ludd dies, Gryff will personally lead the attack on Ironrath, razing the entire town and slaughtering countless smallfolk.
- Because of his overall repulsiveness, his maiming at the hands of Rodrik, as well as his (determinant) death in Episode 6, is played purely for satisfaction.
Trivia[]
- Gryff is so hated that 60% of players had Rodrik maim him.
