~ Hahn showing his distrust towards Sokka when they first met. |
“ | Hahn: Let me tell you Sokka, I've courted a lot of girls, but Yue is the finest and she comes with the most perks. Sokka: Perks? What does that mean? Hahn: I mean, Yue's nice and everything, but the points I'll gain with the chief aren't bad either. Sokka: Princess Yue is wasted on a self-absorbed weasel like you! Hahn: Whoa, hang on. What do you care? You're just a simple rube from the Southern Tribe. What would you know of the political complexities of our life? No offense. Sokka: You're just a jerk without a soul, no offense! |

Hahn is a minor character of Avatar: The Last Airbender. He is a soldier from the Northern Water Tribe who has arranged marriage between himself and Princess Yue due to his high ranking. Upon meeting Sokka, he immediately took a dislike towards him and began to mock him since he's aware of how much he loves Yue. He was later thrown overboard by Admiral Zhao.
He was voiced by Ben Diskin.
What makes him a Hate Sink?[]
- Has courted many girls from the Northern Water Tribe before, but this is more out of lust rather than genuine love.
- Only accepted Chief Arnook's arranged marriage between him and Princess Yue just to gain high political ranking. In contrast to Sokka who truly loves Yue in all his heart, Hahn, on the other hand, shows no romantic interest towards her and only wanted to marry her just to become the chief of the Northern Water Tribe.
- After his first meeting with Sokka, he immediately took a dislike towards him and doesn't hesitate to taunt him by revealing his lack of romantic interest towards Yue, and saying he's just a simple rube from the Southern Water Tribe. This even led to their physical confrontation which made him responsible for Sokka getting called off from the mission without any shed of remorse. Despite Sokka's disobedience, Arnook still put faith in him as he tasked him to protect Princess Yue at any costs.
- Overall, he is clearly selfish and overconfident to the point of his incompetence and him being terrible at remembering people's names. This even led to his well-deserved karma as he was thrown overboard by Admiral Zhao when he tries to attack him.
Trivia[]
- His live-action Netflix counterpart doesn't count as Hate Sink as this version of Hahn is far kinder and more friendly towards Sokka and Yue, lacks any arrogance and misogyny, accepting Yue's decisions of breaking off their engagement and is much more intelligent and level-headed than his original counterpart.
