Haiji Towa is the secondary antagonist of the Danganronpa video game spinoff Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls.

He is the older brother and arch-enemy of Monaca Towa. He took on the role of leader of the adult Resistance against the Warriors of Hope, but is actually an emotion-driven abuser with a sworn hatred for children and is abusive towards his younger sister.

He is voiced by Shin-ichiro Miki in Japanese and Matthew Mercer in English.

What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]

  • Even besides all of his actions that define his role as a villain, Haiji is generally a jerk who almost has no redeeming qualities or respect for anyone around him.
  • As leader of the Resistance, he hid underground instead of fighting back. While he claimed it was so no lives were lost, it was actually simple cowardice.
  • He proclaimed that Komaru and Toko (who are teenagers) were too old for him and that he likes girls "as young as possible," with the art book for Ultra Despair Girls implying he'd be sexually attracted to Kotoko Utsugi (an elementary school aged girl and victim of multiple sexual assaults) if it wasn't for her personality.
  • He is very abusive towards his little sister Monaca, causing trauma that resulted in her becoming a monster. Not only is he mentally abusive, he's physically abusive to the point that it was believable to him and his father when she pretended to be handicapped because of them.
    • He's implied to have sexually abused Monaca as well. He's infamous for being attracted to younger girls and once stated that he doesn't consider Monaca his family (meaning he wouldn't see this as incest). She's also shown to know how to make sexual advances on Nagisa despite her young age, something she had to learn from somewhere.
  • He had no sympathy for Nagisa despite his tragic backstory (granted, which he admittedly wasn't aware of) and apparent death, even joking about the latter.
  • He piloted the gigantic Big Bang Monokuma, causing destruction and inciting the Resistance to kill children as revenge.
  • He urged and tried to manipulate Komaru to get her to destroy the controller, which would have killed all of the Monokuma Kids, who were just brainwashed victims of Monaca. When Toko intervened, he tried to attack her.
