Harlan J. Fontaine is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Leland Monroe) of the video game L.A. Noire. He is a corrupt clinical psychologist, one of the masterminds behind the Suburban Redevelopment Scandal and L.A. Morphine Racket, and the archnemesis of Cole Phelps.
He was voiced by Peter Blomquist, who also voiced Micah Bell in Red Dead Redemption II.
What Make Him a Hate Sink?[]
- Overall, he harms lots of innocent lives for his own personal gain and shows a callous disregard for the collateral damage.
- He illegally sells morphine to students and addicts under the pretense of giving them medication for help, out of nothing but greed.
- He has Lou Buchwalter work at Elysian Fields Development to build houses while knowing the houses were fraudulent and unsafe, making him indirectly responsible for his accidental death by being crushed by a roof.
- He exploits his patient Ira Hogeboom's PTSD and mental instability and manipulated him into burning down houses so the SRF could buy their land, with no concern whatsoever for the families and kids that would be killed or made homeless. This also caused the deaths of the Sawyer and Morelli families.
- He murders Courtney Sheldon by injecting him with an overdose of morphine after he discovered his conspiracy.
- He tries to kill Elsa Lichtmann when she learned about his role in Lou's death, only to be stopped by Ira when he storms into his house and strangles him.
- His death is played for complete satisfaction and is quite karmic as he died at the hands of a man whom he had driven to insanity in the first place.
