  • Alex DeLarge: The whole theme of the story prevents him from standing out, and he was intended to be seen as a tragic and three-dimensional villain.
  • All For One: Even with the depths of his evil and the reveal on the Final War arc that for all his glamour and cool exterior he is a psychopathic manchild, there are still massive shades of Evil is Cool still inked to his presence, from being able to decimate his way through scores of heroes and actually managing to outsmart them at times, to the reveal of his backstory of building up his status as Japan's shadow ruler from the ground up as a mere orphan on the streets with just his kill and charisma, to his final battle having him go down activating all of his powers for one ultimate move with a clear intention to fight till the bitter end.
  • Amy Elliott-Dunne: Despite being the textbook example of a sociopath, Amy's backstory, being born after a series of stillbirths and miscarriages combined with her insecurities after being forced to live in the shadow of the Amazing Amy (the idealized version of Amy from her parent's children book series), is way too tragic and sympathetic for her to qualify as a hate sink.
  • Amy Hughes: Way too charismatic and, despite being pure evil, the flashbacks tried to paint her as sympathetic before revealing that she was the killer the entire time.

  • Bob Barnes: It's pretty clear that he was meant to be a tragic three-dimensional character, judging from his numerous battle scars and the implied care he had for his men. Dale Dye even states in the film's DVD commentary that war made him suicidal out of shame for his actions. Plus at least he's not a sadist like Bunny, or a dimwitted coward like Junior.
  • Bryce Walker (TV Series): One of the more controversial entries on this list, Bryce would've easily qualified if we were just basing his appearances on just seasons 1 and 2 alone. His hate sink status, however, gets deconstructed in season 3 where Bryce attempts to make amends for his crimes and has more humanizing moments with his mother and Ani.

  • Nick Goode While he's the wholly debased main antagonist of the Fear Street trilogy and he continues his family's deal with the devil, it's implied that he was written to be viewed as a tragic, three-dimensional villain given that his younger self was genuinely affable, had no resentment for Shadyside, genuinely loved Ziggy (before subverting it 16 years later), and initially only performed the ritual as an obligation to his family.
  • Nui Harime: While having some despicable actions, there is too much emphasis on a Creepy Awesome Laughably Evil presence with her Cute and Psycho Demeanor.
