| ~ Henry Evans' most known catchphrase. |
Henry Evans is the main antagonist in the 1993 psychological-thriller drama film The Good Son. He is a cruel, insane and manipulative killer who is the archenemy of his cousin Mark Evans.
He was portrayed by Macaulay Culkin in his first villainous role.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He has one of the pettiest reasons for being a villain: He murdered his baby brother Richard in the bathtub because his parents paid more attention to him.
- He smoked a cigarette and coerced Mark to smoke a cigarette with him, despite Mark politely refusing.
- He shot a dog with a homemade nail crossbow to death.
- He indirectly crashed several cars by dropping a dummy off a bridge into traffic. And while watching the chaos unfolding, he gives an extremely sadistic smile.
- He attempted to murder his sister Connie by pushing her into thin ice at the skating rink.
- He insulted his deceased aunt, as well as Mark's mother, referring to her as "maggot food".
- He attempted to kill his mother Susan by pushing her off a cliff when she tries to institutionalize him after it's revealed what he did to Richard.
- He died like a coward in the end, “lying” to Susan by “pretending” to love her in hopes that she’ll save him over his cousin Mark, in spite of everything he did to their family.
- His death was not played for sympathy. If anything, he was a psychopath who got what he “deserved” for all the terrible things he did, because he intentionally commits crimes for entertainment, his death wasn’t portrayed sympathetically, even if he likely has borderline personality disorder.
- It is most likely that had his mom saved him, not only would this had resulted in Mark dying in his place, but he would have eventually “killed” her, the rest of their family and other innocent people to satisfy his blood-lust.
- He intentionally commits heinous atrocities for his own entertainment, which in no way makes him likable, even if he most likely has borderline personality disorder.
Trivia[]
- Ironically, Henry's actor also portrayed Kevin McCallister from Home Alone franchise, a Love Exalted.
- His status as Hate Sink and Pure Evil is the polar opposite of Mark Evans's status as Love Exalted and Pure Good.
- He's the only Hate Sink to be portrayed by Macaulay Culkin.
