Herbert Landon is the secondery antagonist of Spider-Man The Animated Series. He was once Beast’s former friend but he betrayed him and tried to kill him and all mutants and is Kingpin’s new lieutenant, replacing Alistair Smythe.
He was voiced by the late David Warner.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He hated all mutants out of his prejudiced and delusional beliefs.
- He betrayed his former friend Beast.
- He double-crossed Hobgoblin by trying to kill him with a bomb inside a briefcase.
- He kidnapped Beast and tried to kill him by using a formula that kills all mutants.
- When he saw Spider-Man fighting Wolverine, he orders his men to kill them, completely disregarding the fact that Spider-Man saved his life from the Hobgoblin.
- He was gladly willing to kill both Beast and Wolverine when he was trying to save him.
- He taunted the Hobgoblin about karma.
- He tried to kill hobgoblin with his laser for stealing his last copy of his work.
- He foolishly tries to get his disk back of his work, but ends up falling into his own formula, which turns him into what he hates most: a mutant.
- He presumably tried to kill his assistant Genevieve by lying that he was going to cure her and it's possible that he succeeded.
- He got away with all his actions, making him a Karma Houdini.
- He turned Alistair Smythe into a cyborg slave for his failures.
- Although he works for Kingpin, he doesn’t have any genuine loyalty for him.
