The Steering Committee, also known as Board of Trustees, are the overarching antagonists of the Hope's Peak Saga of the Danganronpa franchise, serving as the overarching antagonists of Danganronpa Zero and Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School - Despair Arc.

What makes them Hate Sinks?[]

  • They are a bunch of smug and greedy men who only care about talent and the public image of their school. Throughout the series, it is made clear that they are ones responsible for the corruption within Hope's Peak Academy.
  • During the annual draw for determining who would be the Ultimate Lucky Student, they initially thought luck wasn't a real talent, only going through with it because Jin brought up Nagito's extreme luck.
  • They ruthlessly covered up any information or events that could seriously harm the school's reputation, like the murders of Natsumi Kuzuryu and Sato.
    • It is even stated by Juzo Sakakura that they would go so far as to murder students who know too much to in order to silence them, leading to him beating up Hajime Hinata and breaking what little self-esteem he had left at that point when he tries to discover the truth behind his classmates' deaths.
  • They masterminded the Izuru Kamukura Project, where they performed human experimentations and lobotomies (which would remove the person's memories, personality, and emotions) on Hajime to give him every talent they have research in Hope's Peak to artificially create the Ultimate Hope.
  • They created the Reserve Course Department and made its students pay high tuition fees to fund the project and to be used as guinea pigs, where they received subpar education and are poorly treated by the main course students and staff. The idea that they could one day to transferred to the main course if they performed exceptionally well was also a lie. All of this caused the Reserve Course students to be resentful and bitter.
  • After the Tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy, their only concern is to cover the whole thing up, much to the disgust of Jin and the Reserve Course students. This even led to the Parade, where the latter group protested and rioted against the school because of this.
  • They admitted Junko Enoshima, the Ultimate Despair student herself, into Hope's Peak Academy without the involvement of Jin or the talent scout. They would also have the former bear all responsibility if needed.
  • Overall, literally all of their corrupt actions led to Junko causing the Tragedy and the nearly downfall of the world itself for the sake of causing despair.
  • Due to all of this, their deaths at the hands of Junko, her sister Mukuro, and the Reserve Course students are not played for sympathy at all but instead for pure satisfaction.
