Hunter is the overarching antagonist of the Nelvana series of Babar, he serves the main antagonist of the first five episodes and the posthumous overarching antagonist in the later episodes.
This version is darker and more evil than his book and movie version as he seeks to kill all the animals of the jungle knowing they are sapient beings.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He murdered Babar's mother in cold blood, which resulted in Babar suffering from PTSD even after the Hunter died in the fifth episode of the series. Though Babar thankfully recovered.
- He murdered an elephant that tried to surrender.
- It's 100% clear that his actions are against the laws set by human society, which means he is defiant to even his own kind.
- He led an army to attack Babar's kingdom.
- He rejected any of the elephants attempts to surrender and make peace.
- He decided to burn down the whole jungle if he can't have the animal's ivory for himself, and gloats about his plans to kill all the animals of the jungle.
- He never cared about his own men and saw them as his pawns.
- Everything about the Hunter is played for horror and he is not sympathetic or redeemable at all.
Trivia[]
- He's the darkest and most hated character in the Babar franchise due to his unforgiving actions and the only one to be a Hate Sink.
- In most of his appearances, his face is kept out of frame or framed in shadow. However, in a few rare shots such as the profile image, his face can be seen.
- As given by him burning to his death it can be implied he could be dragged to hell, where he would get eternal damnation and will suffer for all eternity.
- Only the Nelvana series version of him is considered a Hate Sink.
