"Love to hate" factors	In Yusuke's Confidant, it is implied that Madarame did care for him as a child to some extent. Audience understands the parallel of his Sayuri forgeries with the subtext of AI arts that replace artists for profit. Also, his method of manipulating Yusuke involves gaslighting to made him think that he had an artistic talent when he was 3 after Madarame deliberately letting his mother die.

Ichiryusai Madarame is a major antagonist in Persona 5 and the main antagonist of the game's second arc. He is the art teacher of Yusuke Kitagawa who in truth abuses and plagiarises his pupils for his own gain.

He was voiced by Yukitoshi Hori in Japanese and Kyle Hebert in English, who also voiced Mitsuo Kubo.

What Makes Him A Hate Sink?

• Despite his friendly demeanor, he is really an awful man who abuses his student and plagiarizes their art. This is to the point that one of them even committed suicide.
• When Ann, Yusuke and Morgana find out that the truth about his art, he threatened to call the police on them.
• It is revealed that he left Yusuke's mother to die in order to steal her artwork, the Sayuri, in order to forge it as his own for profit.
• He sold many fake copies of the Sayuri while claiming it to be his own.
• Using the money he made from selling the fake copies of the Sayuri, he funded Masayoshi Shido's campaign.
