Insector Haga, also referred in the English Dub as Weevil Underwood, is one of the supporting antagonist of the series Yu-Gi-Oh!.

He was former Japan’s dueling champion until Yugi Moto became the next Duel King, which caused him to develop a bitter rivalry towards him.

What Makes Him Hate Sink?

• During the Duel Kingdom tournament, he present himself as a humble and a respectful person to Yugi and Joey as he was interested in Yugi’s desk especially Exodia, however, he proved to be deceitful as he want to see Exoida cards with the intent of dumping it out of the boat onto the sea just so he can eliminate his competition.
  • This caused Joey to jump out the boat and tried to retrieve those cards, but failed to get all of them back once he is back on boat.
  • During his duel with Yugi, he taunted and belittled the latter as having several advantages, but Yugi managed to beat him in a duel, as for his defeat, he has to give up all of his star chip and be eliminated from the competition, and this is played with satisfaction for playing dirty.
• During the Battle City Tournament, he challenged Joey Wheeler for his rare card and all of his locator card to eliminate him from the tournament.
  • It revealed that, Weevil hired a boy to take Joey’s Duel Disk and secretly placed a card in his desk with the intent of underhanded tactic by promising a boy a rare card.
    • Weevil lied about the boy’s promise with a rare card and instead used a bug spray or silly string at the boy.
  • Despite having all the advantages against Joey, but the latter managed to defeat him in a duel, and for his defeat, he was to give up his “Insect Queen” and all of his locator card thus eliminating him from the tournament.
• His backstory with Rex, when they used be liked they stole a boy’s rare card for their autograph, and they laughed when they took it. When they’ve lost to Yugi and Joey, they were no longer liked and they went to an ally where he cruelly threw a can at a dog. They got beaten up by the boy’s brother and his friends that they took from, and they were seen unconscious with their stolen card taken back. He got peed on by the dog he hit, which it was never played with sympathy, it was instead played for satisfaction.
• He and Rex Raptor joined Dartz’s organization to gain more power with the intent of getting revenge on Yugi for losing his popularity using “The Seal of Orichalcos” card, with the intent of taking the pharaoh’s soul after Raphael took Yugi’s soul by mistake.
  • During their duel, he made a stupid mistake of taunting the pharaoh by ripping a common card, thinking that was Yugi’s soul inside, and this made the pharaoh angry that he ruthlessly beat up Weevil until his soul was taken by that card given by Dartz’s for a while, and his defeat was never played with sympathy and instead played with shock at Yami Yugi’s anger.
• He and Rex tried to enter in the KaibaCorp Grand Championship by impersonating a participating duelist, but their deception was uncovered and defeated by Ziegfried.
  • When Yugi defeated Leon and became champion once again, Weevil and Rex were the only audience who didn’t applaud as they are still jealous of Yugi’s win.

• During the Memory Arc, he and Rex attempted to steal Yugi’s Egyptian God cards, but they also got the Millennium Items by mistake. Yami Bakura punished them by knocking them unconscious (Original Dub) or sending them to the Shadow Realm (English Dub) until his defeat.
