Isshiki Ōtsutsuki, also known as Jigen, is the main antagonist of the manga and anime series Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. He was a high-ranking member of the Ōtsutsuki clan's main family who, after being fatally wounded by his fellow clanswoman Kaguya, took possession of the body of a monk named Jigen who he would use as his vessel for over a millenium. He was also the founder and leader of the evil Kara organization.
He was voiced by Kenjiro Tsuda, who also voiced Redyue in Kamen Rider Gaim and Martinet in Rage of Bahamut: Genesis in Japanese and Keith Silverstein in the English dub, who also voiced Masayoshi Shido in Persona 5, Hammerhead in Marvel's Spider-Man, and Doctor Tomoe in Sailor Moon Crystal.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
In General[]
- Although he has numerous Evil is Cool moments as he is beating the protagonists, they are completely subverted when he acts like an pathetic coward and sore loser when faced with an actual threat.
- He considers humans to be inferior to him and obnoxiously brags about his destiny to defeat them on a regular basis.
Background[]
- After having been betrayed and nearly killed by Kaguya, he needlessly attacked a monk named Jigen, entering his body in order to harvest his nutrients and eventually completely taking it over.
- He experimented on over 15 children which killed 13 of them while he cruelly continued experimented on the other 2.
- Some of the children were kidnapped by one of the worst of his henchmen, Boro.
- He trained Kawaki, the only one of his test subjects to obtain a complete Kāma, in abhorrently brutal ways in an attempt to have Kawaki master his Kāma, all the while telling him that his only purpose is to be his vessel and physically assaulting him whenever he questioned him, showing that he can't handle criticism, without getting angry.
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations[]
- During his fight with Naruto, Sasuke and Boruto, he broke Boruto's arm and beated him within a inch of his life.
- Throws a child-like tantrum when Naruto outsmarts him.
- His death at Kawaki's was played for complete satisfaction.
- After his death, he uses Code to try to get revenge on those who killed him.
