Jake is the main antagonist in the 1984 live-action vigilante/gang movie Savage Streets.

He is the leader of the Scars who share a rivalry with Brenda and the Satins, which later tried to get revenge on them for trashing their car. In an act of revenge, he has Brenda's sister raped and later killed her pregnant best friend out of spite.

He was portrayed by the late Robert Dryer.

What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]

  • He is an arrogant, misogynistic, and petty scumbag of a gangster whose deplorable actions involved harming or killing the loved ones of Brenda, his enemy, out of spite and was willing to harm anyone weaker than him to benefit his satisfaction, that even includes those who have disorders or conditions.
  • He is abusive to Vince despite treating him as one of the Scars, though he wasn't above allowing his right-hand men, Fargo and Red, to bully him and taunt him about raping Heather while they were no better, that even includes Jake. It's also heavily implied that he peer-pressured Vince into joining his gang.
  • Whenever he is called out for something he did wrong, like nearly running over Heather and harassing Francine, he tries to force one of his men (mainly Fargo) to "apologize" for said actions as a way to be excused and scoff it off with absolutely no remorse.
  • As the debt collector of the dope dealing ring, he likely mistreats those who owed him their debt, Fadden is a prime example as he takes a "liking" to him because he was easy to beat and even allowed his boys to do a "cavity search" on Fadden's girlfriend right in front of him.
  • To get revenge on the Satins, he and his gang groped and later raped Heather out of spite just to get even with them, then later left her for dead upon knocking her out cold when they heard someone nearby, placing her into a coma. What's worse, Heather was entirely innocent throughout the film as she did no wrong against the Scars and just went along with Brenda and her friends' actions unaware of what was really going on at that time, making Jake's most heinous deed all the more deplorable.
    • He even forced Vince to rape her with Fargo and Red encouraging him like it was "his birthday". Vince would later feel remorse and show signs of PSTD for what he did to Heather as shown when he was running away from the hospital after he apologized to her while she was unconscious.
  • He, alongside Fargo and Red, hauled women over to their laps and harass them in front of Vince as a way of taunting him about raping Heather earlier. One of the women was Francine, which resulted in a bar fight with two men who tried to stop them.
  • As revenge for scarring his face, he and his gang went after Francine to kill her, something Vince protested against. Upon cornering her, he prompted himself to throw her off the bridge with zero remorse and this causes Vince to leave Jake and the Scars for good, even hating him for what he has done.
    • What made this worse was that Francine was pregnant at that time and she was on her way to her planned wedding before Jake and his boys ruined it, even his murder of her also likely caused her unborn baby to be killed as well, making Jake guilty of feticide. When this is later brought up by Brenda, his response was to spit at her just to add insult to injury, showing that he isn't above murdering a child or a baby, let alone a baby that wasn't able to be born yet.
  • He ran over and ambushed Vince with his car just to leave the gang when the latter had every right in doing so after realizing how much of a monstrous prick he was.
  • In a final act of spite, he tries to kill Brenda by strangling her. However, this was his downfall when he was burnt to a crisp and succumbs to his deserving demise.
  • His relationship with Fargo and Red is never genuine, instead, it comes off as mutual since they both commit their actions for The Evulz. He didn't even bother to show concern or mourn them when he sees their corpses, instead, he shows concern for his own life knowing Brenda will get him for last, showing the coward that he is deep down. And it demonstrates that he doesn't care about them in the same way he saw Vince as his "owned" property.
  • His excuse is perhaps one of the most petty motives a villain could have, even by the standards of it as all of his heinous acts were driven by the fact that his car was trashed by the Satins. It genuinely demonstrates how pathetic it seemed to be justified and while it is overstated to say whether he and his gang deserved it, this is understandable since they nearly ran over Heather and never apologized genuinely for this. What made this excuse even more incomprehensible is that the car is later cleaned out later on in the film, meaning whatever Jake and his gang did in their actions had no gain from this but still bothered to get back at the Satins for no absolute reason whatsoever.
