Janaki is a supporting antagonist in open world role-playing video game Genshin Impact. She is a friend of Ilyas and a student of Vahumana Darshan in Sumeru Akademiya. She was part of Jani's school project group, along with Ilyas, Jaap, and Raju. When Raju had committed suicide and Ilyas exposes Jani as a fraud, Janaki (Along with Jaap) helds an antagonism towards Ilyas and shuns him. She only appears in Alhaitham's story quest Act I: The Illusions of the Mob.
She is voiced by Lani Minella in English dub and by Watanabe Chihiro in Japanese.
What Makes Her Hate Sink?[]
- She has an antagonism towards Ilyas for teaming up with Alhaitham, who had just defected from Grand Sage Azar's plan, calling them "two biggest loners". Additionally, she doesn't give a crap about Grand Sage Azar when he uses Akasha Terminal for creating a new God of Wisdom and she only cares about higher grades more than anything.
- When Siraj assigned her as "Siraj No. 45" she refuses the part because of the position she's placed being too low for her.
- It's revealed that Janaki was once part of Jani's study group, along with Jaap and Ilyas. When Ilyas' friend, Raju committed suicide after having extorted and blackmailed into staying to work with Jani, Ilyas had to expose Jani as a fraud to avenge Raju. Janaki (along with Jaap) would rather blame Raju for working with Jani and Ilyas for exposing Jani's fraudulence in act of justice, showing that she cares about higher grades and preserving her own reputation over other students' well being.
- Compared to Grand Sage Azar, who is a corrupt dean who commits Blasphemy against Dendro Archon, Janaki is a jerkass ordinary student with a selfish goal of wanting higher grades and is apathetic towards Raju's death and Ilyas' amnesia.
- Additionally, while Siraj is the main antagonist of Alhaitham Story Quest by manipulating Ilyas into becoming a part of Siraj's hive mind, Janaki (and Jaap) were responsible for shunning Ilyas for exposing Jani's plagiarism after Raju's suicide resulting Siraj took interest in Ilyas. Additionally, Siraj has a freudian excuse because of his project was disapproved by Grand Sage Azar and Alhaitham before Azar enacts his heretical plans to make the New God of Wisdom, resulting Siraj develops grudge against Alhaitham (& Azar). Making Janaki is mundane yet more despicable in comparison to Siraj.
