Jeffery "Jeff" Fecalman is a major antagonist in the TV animated series Family Guy. He initially appeared made a cameo appearance in the episode "Jerome is The New Black", before later reappearing as the main antagonist in the episode "Screams of Silence: The Story of Brenda Q".
In both episodes, Jeff was the abusive boyfriend of Brenda Quagmire to the point where he and her brother Quagmire resented each other as a result of Jeff's heinous actions towards Brenda.
He was voiced by Ralph Garman, who also voiced Sheriff Nichols.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He is incredibly abusive towards Brenda and unlike Peter Griffin, who himself has been abusive towards his family at times, he is smart enough to be fully aware that Jeffery's actions are wrong.
- He’ll get mad at Brenda over small and ridiculous things, like accidentally parking in a handicap space and at one point, while watching TV, Jeff slapped Brenda across the couch just because he didn't find a joke funny.
- Even after finding out Brenda was pregnant, Jeff still intends to violently beat her, which could lead to an unhealthy pregnancy, or what is worse: a miscarriage.
- It's implied he's also a xenophobe, as Brenda has said that he hates immigrants. However, this could also be an excuse she made up.
- Jeff shows a more sadistic side to his personality when he later mocks Quagmire about Brenda's child growing up without an uncle (despite the fact that Quagmire does have a brother). He is also willing to kill Quagmire with his own bare hands, when Quagmire tells him that they should fight instead.
- He violently attacked Quagmire, Peter, and Joe by knocking the latter two out before leaving them to freeze to death and strangling the former and apparently killing him. However, Glenn survived due to his longtime habit of suffocating for erotic purposes, and then chases and smashes Jeff with Peter's car against a tree, giving him a well deserved death for his cruel actions. While Quagmire, Peter, and Joe were planning to kill him first, he was being gleefully murderous.
- Unlike other Family Guy villains, he is treated generally treated seriously and has barely any redeeming qualities at all, with even Quagmire who despite being a perverted rapist being disgusted by his actions.
- While he does provide some “Evil is Cool” effect with his notably intimidating presence, it never detracts from his cruelty nor do his brief comedic lines.
Trivia[]
- Many critics have bashed Jeff's portrayal on the show. This is because he openly abused Brenda in public and front of other people a clear indication that the show's creators did not do any research about the subject. This is because real-life domestic abusers often abuse their spouses behind closed doors rather than out in the open, and rarely go overboard in their methods and behaviors, in which they tend to be more subtle.
- Even if domestic abusers do these actions in public, they can be immediately arrested for their reprehensible crimes.
- He, Connie DiMico, Sheriff Nichols and The Warden are currently the only listed Family Guy Hate Sinks.
- Although very hateful, he does allow Peter Griffin to keep his hands down to have his shirt cover his stomach.
