They were willing to go with Bert's Uncle Hogwood and the KKK to kill Smoke, Stack and everyone at the Juke Joint.

She did seem somewhat concerned at the sight of Remmick burnt and injured.
She screamed in horror at the sight of her husband's vampire appearance.

Joanne "Joan" and Bert, are recurring antagonists of the 2025 period action horror film Sinners. They are a xenophobic couple who are members of the Ku Klux Klan that eventually become thralls and vampires to Remmick, Joan is the wife of Bert and niece-in-law of Hogwood, Bert is the husband of Joan and nephew of Hogwood. Bert was portrayed by Peter Dreimanis and Joan was portrayed by Lola Kirke.

What Makes Them Hate Sinks?[]

Despite Bert or presumably the both of them living in near-poverty this doesn't make them sympathetic as they were presumably already members of the Ku Klux Klan.
They presumably murder many black people with Hogwood and the KKK.
Bert (either on his uncle’s orders or with him) was going to lead the other Klansmen to the twins and the patrons at the Juke Joint with the intention on killing all of them.
Before being turned they both aimed guns at a injured Remmick with Bert saying is he (Remmick) sure it wasn't some fair skinned n***r's that injured him saying they’re ain't no Indians around their for miles.
When Chayton and the Choctaw knock on their door Joan aims her gun at their leader Chayton.
When turned they join Remmick in traveling to the Juke Joint wanting to get in so Remmick and turn everyone in Joint into vampires so Remmick can conjure the spirits of his Family and ancestors using Sammie's music.
They attempt to manipulate Mary into staying until Remmick reveals his true form and turns her.
They both bite Cornbread turning him into a vampire.
They alongside Remmick turned all the patrons who were told to leave the Juke Joint into vampires.
They attempt to kill Annie Moore, Elijah "Smoke" Moore, Sammie More, Delta Slim, Pearline, and Grace Chow.
They were presumably one of the multiple vampires that bit Delta Slim killing him.
While their death of being burned is horrific is not played for sympathy but rather karma for being xenophobic people.
Despite Bert being Hogwood nephew he or both drop any care (if they had any care) for Hogwood as they were presumably going to kill him alongside Remmick and the others help.
