Joe Frank is a minor antagonist of the Image Comics Spawn. He is the abusive father of Andy And Eddie Frank, as well as one of the main reasons of Eddie into becoming the Redeemer.

What Makes Him A Hate Sink?[]

Strongly implied that he was already evil even before becoming a cop and a father.
It's heavily implied that he only joined the police force just to find himself an excuse to commit any other crimes aside from abusing his children and getting away with them.
It's heavily implied that he may have raped his own wife, possibly during their "first meeting", and later possibly killed Her since it Was implied that she was trying to protect their children from him.
He would often take His anger and frustration out on his own sons whenever they disobey him, which was just very cruel.
When Eddie tried to defend his brother from him, Joe slapped him and continued to beat up his younger son.
Because of what he did he gave his sons some bruises and this made Spawn enraged that he wanted to kill him for what he did to his sons.
He angrily tells his sons to get back in the house while they were talking to Spawn.
Though he did go to church he only did it out of pragmatism to show the people that he is a caring person.
He lies to everyone that his sons were hurt by playing games this shows that he hides his abusive nature from them.
He asked his younger son to get him a Beer but he was to young to bring it and he accidentally broke it and this made furious that he beat his younger son again and tried to kill him by using his gun. Luckily, it was not loaded.
When Eddie tells him to leave him alone he hits him in the stomach while leaving and sadistically laughing and tells them that tomorrow he will continue to beat them.
When Spawn captures him when he was out of a bar, he ignore his warnings of hurting his children while putting tattoos on his body "I Beat Kids".
Instead of not listening to Spawn's warnings he destroyed his sons wagon and shirt while waiting for them to come home from School.
He mercilessly beat up his younger son for no reason which caused Eddie to go save him by using his dad's gun.
When Eddie tells him to leave his brother he didn’t back off he gets enraged while telling his son that his gun is not a toy and charges towards him which cases him to pull the trigger of the gun Killing him once and for all.
Though his death was brutal it was not played with sympathy it was instead well-deserved and satisfying for what he did to his sons.
Despite being killed this impact his sons and and led to Eddie into becoming the Redeemer.
