John Hargensen is a minor antagonist in the horror novel Carrie and its film adaptations. He is Chris Hargensen's father, and tries to sue the school district for suspending her for bullying Carrie.
He was played by the late Michael Kopsa in the 2002 film.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He's implied to have spoiled his daughter and doesn't care who she hurts.
- He acts like a smug bully himself and clearly enjoys threatening Principal Grayle and Ms. Desjardin.
- He harasses the school when Chris is banned from prom, and wants Ms. Desjardin fired for trying to discipline Chris, and states if his demands are not met he will sue the school district and the principal will lose his job.
- Even when he's told about Chris's long record of bullying students, including mutilating a girl in junior high, he doesn't care.
- Though he backs down from the lawsuit, this wasn't out of morals but because he was afraid the school would counter-sue him on behalf of the students Chris has hurt.
Trivia[]
- His 2013 film version doesn't count as he appears to not know what Chris has done and is angry at her when he finds out.
