Johnathan "John" Milton is the overarching antagonist of the Scream franchise.

He was portrayed by Lance Henriksen.

Why Do We Hate Him?

• He lead a gangrape against Maureen Prescott, making him indirectly responsible for the events of the entire franchise as it impregnated Maureen with Roman Bridger and because of Milton's actions, Maureen couldn't love her son, which caused Roman to manipulate Billy Loomis and Stu Macher to kill her.
• Due to his indirect involvement in four different killing sprees, he is considered as the first victim in the franchise who completely deserved to be killed.
• He sexually extorted many other women to have a role in his films and it is implied that he raped them if he doesn't.
• He profited off the lives taken as a result of his actions.
• Unlike Roman's other victims, his death isn't remotely played for sympathy as he completely deserved it and no one is upset about his demise. Even though Sidney wasn't thrilled to see Milton get killed, it was because she wanted him to die in jail instead of being killed, no pity involved.
• While some of the Ghostface killers can come off as over-the-top and grotesquely entertaining, John is not only more repulsive than the killers within the franchise, but lacks charm, charisma, and redeeming qualities and everything about him is taken seriously.
