Jonas Fogg is a minor antagonist in the theatre musical, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, as well as its 2007 film adaptation. He is the sadistic and greedy warden of the local asylum.
What makes him a Hate Sink?[]
- It is inferred that he cruelly abuses the female inmates of his asylum. In the film, they are all clearly shown to be terrified of him.
- Under orders from Judge Turpin, Beadle Bamford takes Johanna to the asylum and bribes Fogg into keeping her locked up and abused despite the fact that she is perfectly sane. Fogg agrees to keep her locked up and abused until she agrees to love Turpin, who is both decades older than her and her own adoptive father.
- He lets wigmakers cut off all the hair from a patient's head to make their wigs, and it is implied that it isn't done gently.
- In the play, he advances on Anthony while threatening him with scissors before Johanna shoots him.
