Josh is a one-shot character from Rugrats. He is the main antagonist of season 3 episode 22, New Kid in Town.
He was voiced by the late Dana Hill.
What makes him a Hate Sink?[]
Original[]
- He acts friendly toward the babies, only to betray them.
- He refuses to let Tommy have a turn on the swing.
- He takes all the babies cookies and gives them a sucker covered in sand or dirt to "share". He later takes it back from Phil, not even allowing them to keep that.
- He forces the babies to dig a moat for him, pokes Tommy in the nose, and threatens the babies with violence if they don't do what he says, laughing cruelly.
- He gets mad at Tommy for leaving his post and calls him "baldy boy". He tells the babies they are not allowed to leave unless he says and continues to intimidate them.
- He flicks Chucky on the nose.
- He pushes the babies down onto the sand.
- In a shockingly dark moment for the show, he plans to launch himself onto the babies from high up using a swing. Considering his size and how high he was swinging, he would have seriously injured, if not outright killed 2-3 of the babies.
- He plants his foot on top of Chucky just to assert his dominance.
- It's implied by how mad he was getting that he was going to try and beat up Angelica before she caught him off guard and pushed him down.
- He proves himself to be a dirty coward when he runs away crying for his mother after Angelica pushes him down and he scrapes his arm.
- His only purpose is to be such a bully that he makes Angelica look tame by comparison, to the point that the babies are glad to be bossed around by her instead of Josh.
- While he does scrape his arm and run off crying, it's not sympathetic at all. Angelica was entirely justified in what she did considering the fact that he spent the entire episode bullying the babies and was about to at best seriously injure and at worst outright kill 2-3 of them.
2021 reboot[]
- In The Two Angelicas, he demands the babies get off of the jungle gym and tries to force them down when they refuse, prompting Angelica to stand up for them, once again showing she's still nicer than him.
- In Great Minds Think Alike, he rudely asks what the babies are doing at the park when they are not reading rangers.
