Mercenaries are very cheap these days! With a Respawn Machine on every frontline, there will be no worry!
~ Archibald's commercial.
The war is their business, and mine is to drag it as long as humanly as possible!
~ Archibald revealing his true colors.

Jules Archibald is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside the Undertaker) of the 2023 TF2 psychological-horror YouTube Machinima EMESIS BLUE.

He is the corrupt governor of New Mexico and the head of The Jules Archibald Foundation who has aided and prolonged both of the Mann brothers in their war against one another for profit while conducting experiments on death row prisoners. He faked getting kidnapped in order to avoid a legal investigation and trial from the authorities, but this plan backfired when he gets killed by his former right hand man.

He was voiced by David Love.

What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]

  • Conducted experiments on death row prisoners to perfect his Respawn Machine, which would be the key contraption in extending the ever bitter war between RED and BLU. 90 percent of the subjects died from the experiments, only 10 mercenaries ended up being compatible with the machine. This would shrink to nine when one of the subjects shoots himself. Some of the subjects would end up turning into undead monsters.
    • While it's likely Archibald did not intend for the mercenaries to become monsters, he is blatantly aware of what happened and felt no remorse for it.
    • Not to mention that while he refers to the contraption as "unholy", he still nonetheless uses it, showing how much of a hypocrite he is.
  • He secretly made deals with Redmond Mann, Blutarch's brother and rival, in order to take advantage of them and continue the war.
  • He's a major coward, as whenever he's in trouble he panics.
  • Hired Jacques Murnau to serve as his personal hitman and bodyguard, having him kill any dissenters and reward him with anything he desires, such as a new car.
  • Faked a kidnapping in order to avoid investigations, having Murnau and Jane Doe to look for him. This resulted in Murnau's face getting disfigured after the detective accidentally doused the room with gasoline and threw away a lit cigarette.
    • While it was Murnau's own fault and Archibald was horrified of what happened to him, 1, it still happened because Jules' fake kidnapping brought Jacques to Conagher Slaughterhouse where he got disfigured, and 2, he was only scared and not concerned, still proving he has no remorse for his actions.
  • He called the RED Demoman Jane had found "a corpse." When Jane told him that he was handy, Archibald claimed he had none left despite Demoman still having one arm.
  • His death at the hands of Murnau is not satisfied, since Archibald was simply shot in head, despite he deserved something more for all things he did.
  • Although one could say he is honorable as he rewarded Murnau with his new car, an assistant, and a vacation day, it's most likely for pragmatic reasons as he was useful to his plans.
  • While he has some minor comedic moments, such as running from a fire he started during the Respawn Compatibility tape, correcting Blutarch Mann that he was talking on the phone, not air mail, and bringing up the pregnancy machine, he's still taken seriously by the narrative, and the phone call still highlights how much of a backstabbing psychopath he is.
  • While he smiles at Ludwig in Dell's Bar, which is implied to be the afterlife, it's unlikely he changed his ways and was likely in a good mood considering he wasn't in hell.
