Kalmaar is the main antagonist of Season 14: Seabound in LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu.
He was the prince-turned-king of Merlopia. upon killing his father Trimaar, and adoptive brother of Benthomaar who seeks to wipe out all life on the surface world. He is Nya's archenemy.
He was voiced by Giles Panton.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- Despite being treated well by both of them, he is an egotistical brat and jerk towards his family, calling his father's desire to rule peacefully stupid and regularly dismissing his adoptive brother's (who not to mention is an orphan) attempts at friendship.
- While other Merlopians are content with peace, he has a xenophobic hatred towards humans aka "surface dwellers" for absolutely no reason, even regularly sinking their ships.
- He doesn't care for his fellow Merlopians and regularly gets angry at them.
- He violently murders his own father (onscreen, no less) and blames the Ninjas in a cowardly manner.
- He floods all of Ninjago after summoning Wojira and endangers countless civilians. His actions indirectly lead to Nya tragically having to sacrifice herself to stop him.
- His death of being eaten alive is played for complete satisfaction.
- Although his death of being eaten by Wojira is horrific and Benthomaar did feel bad for him, it's not painted for sympathy in the slightest, especially when he repeatedly screamed at the serpent to listen to him after losing his control over her.
- He was ultimately never anything more than a purely selfish, monstrous, heartless, emotionless, and inhumanly cruel creature who got what he had coming to him.
