Makoto Kibune is one of the secondary antagonists of the New Captain arc, an anime filler arc of Bleach. He was a member of Squad 3, who was one of the key figures behind the Kasumioji conspiracy.
He is voiced by Hikaru Midorikawa in Japanese and by Christopher Corey Smith in English, who also voiced Hantengu from Demon Slayer and Thales from Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He doesn’t care about his fellow Soul Reapers when they are injured and he calls them weak.
- When he was a student, he was focusing on succeeding at any subject, showing how arrogant he is.
- While he was one of the top student, he was never selected to be a seated officer from the Gotei 13, due to his inability to work with others.
- During his time as a Gotei 13, he injured one of his teammates when exterminating Hollows without remorse.
- This action got him sent to Central 46, where he tried to defend his action, which got him suspended and subsequently left in disgust.
- When he became part of Squad 3 as the 3rd Seated Officer, he was acting friendly towards those his division, he was secretly in contempt as he had no problem sacrificing them for being deemed weak by him.
- This action on sacrificing his comrade brought in conflict with Izuru Kira, 3rd Division Lieutenant.
- He also was part of kidnapping Princess Rurichiyo, who was a little girl.
- For all the talk of being an elitist, he was quite a hypocrite, when he used a Bakkoto, a weapon that grow stronger at the cost of taking away his life force instead of a Zanpakuto that relies on a bond with owner to grow stronger through hard work.
- He fought against Kira, and rant on how powerful he is to a lieutenant, but the latter proved superior with his own skills, hard work, and his protectiveness towards his comrades that lead to the former’s death, which was never played with sympathy.
