Mariabell Rosso is a major antagonist in the That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime series. She was the granddaughter of Granbell Rosso and a Reincarnated Otherworlder.
She was voiced by Inori Minase in the Japanese dub, while being voiced by Kira Buckland in the English Dub.
What Makes Her Despicable?[]
- Unlike her grandfather and a majority of the villains of the series who are in the gray zone, have a selfless reason for their actions, caused by an tragedy, or have a good enough Freudian Excuse in general, she lacks them as she does it only out of selfish greed.
- In her original life she was a corrupt European ruler, and she thought nothing of making her subjects suffer just to improve her own standing, to the point war for her was just another business, letting us know she was a utterly horrible woman before she was reincarnated.
- Even though Granville treasures her, Mariabell has absolutely zero love or care for him, seeing him as nothing but a pawn she can manipulate.
- She attempted to use her skill to influence other people's greed to her underlings, including Gaiye and others.
- She had summoned many Otherworlders to force them to be her pawns and slaves.
- Orchestrated many schemes to destroy the Jura-Tempest Federation out of envy of them having better stuff and being in her way for her conquest of the Western Nations.
- Her plot to kill Rimuru shows her complete disregard for their world's welfare, as she is only focused on getting rid of potential threats to her plans to take control over the world. When her allies warn her that her plan would risk making both Milim and Veldora, two of the most powerful individuals in the world, go on a rampage that would cause untold levels of destruction, Mariabell utterly shrugs it off and calls it a necessary sacrifice. When Rimuru tells her he opposes the society she would create since it would collect almost all the power in the hands of a chosen few, she acknowledges and then dismisses his point with a flat "So what?"
- She attempted to spinelessly run away when she thought her Unique Skill Greed can control Rimuru, not realizing the existence of Ultimate Skills, showing us how much of a pathetic coward she is.
- Although her death at the hands of Yuuki was very brutal, it is for satisfaction despite her being a ten year old child, for her crimes and selfish greed.
Trivia[]
- She is the only That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Hate Sink to be a major villain since most of the rest have selfless reasons for their actions, too tragic, gray zone, redeemed themselves or have too many "Evil Are Cool Moments" to be a Hate Sink.
- Only the human character is deemed as a Hate Sink, as the Manas Maria is a separate character from her and just recently got introduced.
