Matias Torres is the titular main antagonist of the The Ghost and Molly McGee episode "Like Father, Like Libby." He is the neglectful and egotistical deadbeat father of Libby Stein-Torres who abandoned his daughter to focus on his book writing.
He was voiced by Carlos Alazraqui.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He left his daughter and wife so he could travel the world and write his books, and doesn't feel the least bit of guilt over this.
- He knows little to nothing about Libby, from not knowing what her favorite animal is to missing the date of her Bar Mitzvah by entire months, something that Molly even points out.
- When he met up with Libby years later, he treated her like a random fan coming for an autograph rather than his daughter.
- He shoots down his daughter's attempts to bond with him in favor of making his book an entire series, shattering Libby's expectations and resulting in her leaving heartbroken.
- He's the only person in the series who's made Libby, his own daughter, cry.
- On top of that, Leah, who's openly happy and cheerful throughout her screen time, shows visible disdain and uncertainty whenever he's brought up.
- Unlike many of the other villains in the series, who are hammy and entertaining, and while he isn't outwardly evil by any means necessary, Matias' neglectful and self-centered personality is portrayed jarringly realistic and straight, and thus he's meant to garnish nothing but hate from the audience.
- He seems to be completely devoid of any redeeming qualities. Even Andrea's parents somewhat care for their daughter and have a few "pet-the-dog" moments every now and then.
- He never receives any punishment for his neglect, making him a Karma Houdini.
