Mayor Oswald Cobblepot is the main antagonist from the first volume of the DC Elseworld's comic Batman: Earth One. Unlike other iterations of Penguin who has evil is cool moments, this one is taken completely seriously and less likable.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He tyrannically ruled Gotham like a mafia and didn't care of the poor as he allowed crime to run rampant throughout the streets.
- He had an heartless and crazy serial killer named The Birthday Boy as his own private assassin, paying the lunatic in young female victims.
- He sold a young girl to birthday boy.
- He attempted to have Thomas Wayne assassinated, all because Thomas wanted to change Gotham for the better by becoming its mayor, and Cobblepot didn't want that to happen, due to him seeing it as disgracing the Cobblepot Legacy.
- He paid a corrupt police officer named Jacob Weaver to cut the power to the Monarch Theater and kidnap the Waynes.
- Luckily this plan failed because Jacob had his men stationed at key points to kidnap the Waynes, but when they heard the gunfire, Weaver and his men fell back. But sadly Thomas and Martha were still murdered by an unknown mugger (presumably Joe Chill) and Cobblepot saw it as Satisfying.
- It's very heavily implied, that he might have commissioner James Gordon's wife assassinated due to Gordon going too far to solving the case that would make him figure out that Cobblepot was behind everything.
- Once he finds out Bruce Wayne was Batman he smiled Evilly and revealed his true colors revealing that he was behind the Wayne murders, just to spite Batman.
- His gruesome death by getting gunshot by Alfred and falling to the ground was played for complete and utter satisfaction.
Trivia[]
- He and the Arkhamverse version is so far the Only versions of Penguin to be a hate sink. This also the only version that isn't referred to his alias but rather his real name Oswald Cobblepot.
