Meryn Trant is an antagonist in Game of Thrones, based on his book counterpart and Boros Blount from A Song of Ice and Fire. He was a violent and craven knight of the Kingsguard that followed the orders of Cersei Lannister and his kings Robert I and Joffrey I. He was also a deviant who abused children.
He was portrayed by Ian Beattie.
What Makes Him Hated?[]
- When Joffrey ruled on the Iron Throne, Meryn Trant would viciously attack and beat down Sansa Stark. At one point, he beat down Sansa in front of a group of people under Joffrey's orders.
- Meryn was shown to be antagonistic towards Tyrion Lannister.
- Meryn fights against Arya's sword master, Syrio Forel, and was responsible for killing him when he tried to take away Arya.
- When Tyrion told Meryn to find Sansa during a riot, Meryn refused to find her and yelled at Tyrion telling him that he "takes his orders from the king". Like Joffrey, he did not mind if she was raped and killed during the riot.
- He was shown to be a deviant who sexually abused and torment girls. He was shown abusing at least three girls.
- Additionally, according to Bronn, he was already known in King's Landing as a pedophile.
- He lacked any redeeming qualities and enjoyed harming those who could not stand up to him or protect themselves.
