~ Midas cowardly begging for mercy as he is arrested. |
Milton Midas is a recurring antagonist in the Canadian animated television series The Raccoons. He is a greedy businessman who uses other people in various ways, whether it involves directly abusing them or tricking them into doing his dirty work for him.
He was voiced by the late Len Carlson.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He treats everybody around him poorly, whether it be abusing his employees or tricking people into buying things or doing activities they will regret later on. Although he appears to have learnt his lesson about treating his employees better as he is never seen abusing his minion Seymour, he never shows care for him either. The fact Seymour is absent and he is seen tricking the Pigs in "The One That Got Away!" does not help matters.
- In "Stress Test!", he is seen being very dishonest about the products he seels, trying to sell swampland disguised as a natural environment to the Pigs for two million dollars and tricking Bert into buying a toy aeroplane that does not work. Only when his swampland scheme was exposed does he relcutantly give Bert his money back.
- He shows no hesitance taking advantage of the Pigs' gullible and dimwitted nature, offering them a thousand dollars for dumping barrels without even telling them they have dangerous chemicals inside.
- When his crimes and the fact his actions indirectly killed Old Tom and permanently destroyed a beloved fishing lake were exposed, he showed no remorse and instead cowardly tried to claim it was an accident.
- Although he isn't the only underhanded crook on The Raccoons, he is the most personally evil as Bert, Ralph and Melissa Raccoon, Cyril and Cedric Sneer and Mr. Willow all had fond memories of the fishing lake for many years, with all of them being heartbroken over his crimes, and he is the only one to antagonise them on multiple occasions.
- His actions are met with disgust by every other character affected in his antics, with even Cyril Sneer, Mr. Knox and the Pigs showing contempt for his actions.
- He has no redeeming qualities and any 'Evil is Cool' presence he may have (if any) is overridden by his selfish, cowardly and dishonest personality.
