All the cases... All on me... Ahahahaha! That's right, I did it!
~ Kubo deciding to frame himself for the murders in Inaba just for fame

Mitsuo Kubo is a supporting antagonist in Persona 4. He was a suspect for the killer responsible for the murders in Inaba, only for it to be revealed that he is merely an attention-seeker who only killed one person.

His voice was provided by Tsuyoshi Takahashi in Japanese and he was dubbed in English by Kyle Hebert.

What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]

  • Acts creepy towards Yukiko Amagi, calling her Yuki, as if they were close when in reality she barely knows him, and also asks if she wants to hang out with him.
  • He murders Mr. Morooka. While he is a pretty unpleasant person, he didn't deserve to die and this led to an even worse teacher, Noriko Kashiwagi to take Morooka's place.
  • He frames himself as the one behind Saki Konishi and Yamano's murders just to get attention. Not to mention he’s delusional enough to believe his own lies.
    • Despite his silly-sounding motive, he is played completely straight and has no comedic moments.
  • When the Investigation Team find him in the TV world, he boasts about supposedly being the killer.
  • Even after the team have defeated his Shadow and helped him out of the TV world, he still acts arrogant about being the supposed killer, and hits on Yukiko again.
  • He's even worse in the anime adaptation, where he:
    • Scares Nanako, a little girl, and tries to grab her.
    • Asks out Yukiko again and tries to hold her hand.
  • In contrast to the actual killer, Tohru Adachi, who atones for his crimes and has a few other minor redeeming qualities, Kubo has no redeeming qualities and is merely an attention-seeking brat.

Trivia[]

  • He is one of the four Persona Hate Sinks to came from Persona 4.
