Mr. Swackhammer is the main antagonist of the 1996 Warner Bros. hybrid sports comedy film Space Jam.
He was voiced by Danny DeVito, who also portrayed the Rude Gambler in Mars Attacks!.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- His motivation is over his theme park failing due to the attractions falling apart, as he concludes he needs completely new ones rather than fix the ones he has, which are established to be of extremely poor quality.
- He is heavily abusive to the Nerdlucks for the entire film.
- He orders the Nedlucks to go to Earth to force the Looney Tunes to work for him, leading to the basketball game that has the nerdlucks steal talent from basketball players to become the Monstars.
- Even after the Nerdlucks become the Monstars, Swackhammer continues to abuse them.
- He has the Monstars attack Stan Podolak after he notices he had been spying on them.
- When he notices the Looney Tunes turning the tables, he commands a time out while also grabbing and throwing Marvin.
- When Michael offers himself in exchange for the stolen talent of the other basketball players, Swackhammer establishes that he would have Michael sign autographs all day and always lose in basketball to guests.
- After making the deal with Michael, he orders the Monstars to get violent and dwindle the Tune Squad to where they are required to find a fifth player or be disqualified.
- He stomps on Bupkus's foot when the Monstars lose while threatening them on what he will do to them when they go back to Moron Mountain.
- The moment Michael asks why the Monstars allow Swackhammer to abuse them, they respond that it is because he is bigger than they were originally. Upon realizing what they just said, they immediately turn on Swackhammer and launch him back to Moron Mountain alone while also asking the Looney Tunes if they can stay with them not wanting to return to their abusive boss.
- His defeat, while somewhat comedic, is played for karmic satisfaction as he deserved it for how horrible he was towards the Nedlucks.
