| ~ The Night Owl to Mordecai, Rigby, Muscle Man, and High Five Ghost. |
The Night Owl is the titular main antagonist of the Regular Show Season 2 episode of the same name. He is a greedy, fame-hungry radio station host who will do anything to become famous forever, even if it involves manipulating and seriously hurting people.
He was voiced by Roger Craig Smith.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He held a contest in which a vintage muscle car was offered as the prize to the last person standing on top of a huge billboard. The remaining contestants, (and would-be winners)—Mordecai, Rigby, Muscle Man, and High-Five Ghost—planned to share the car, which would effectively end the contest. However, he manipulated the four of them into fighting each other by deceitfully claiming that each one intended to take the car for himself. This tactic temporarily fractured their friendships. He then froze them in liquid nitrogen to preserve his popularity, making it clear that he never intended to give the car to the rightful winners.
- When the group was eventually thawed out, they discovered they had been frozen for over centuries and had ended up in the year 4224 AD. This indicated that Night Owl had kept them frozen for an extended period. His selfish and utterly heartless actions robbed the friends of their entire lives for the sake of his own fame and vanity.
- Built an entire museum around the contest's location dedicated all to himself, with a display case with the contest's billboard and car, as well as the frozen tent the gang is in.
- After the gang gets thawed out and attempts to escape, he demands they go back to the tent, they were frozen in to be frozen again. Luckily the gang return to their time, (unintentionally) destroy the prize car and the contest to stop the Night Owl from any achieving fame, resulting in him losing a lot of money from his student loans and then Muscle Man knocks him out cold with a swift punch to the face.
- Overall, he is a greedy, selfish, ruthless and completely heartless, sociopath whose only concerns are to become famous and get rich by any means necessary, even if it involves manipulation, dishonesty and cheating, not caring at the slightest about the well-being of others.
Triva[]
- Night Owl is considered by many fans to be one of the evilest villains in the series, due to the fact that he robs the main characters of their whole lives just so he can make himself famous.
- When the gang drives past an exhibit of their house, Benson appears on a TV screen and says, “I always knew those guys were special,” meaning that either Benson was interviewed by the Night Owl, or his soul was put into the TV, if it was the latter it, would make him even worse.
