Nobuyuki Sugou, also known as Alberich or Fairy King Oberon, is the main antagonist of the Fairy Dance Arc in Sword Art Online. He is Asuna Yuuki's ex-fiance and former lover, the former director of RECT Inc, the former ruler of the VRMMO game ALfheim Online and the arch nemesis and self-proclaimed love rival of Kazuto "Kirito" Kirigaya.

He was voiced by Takehito Koyasu in the Japanese version and Todd Haberkorn in the English dubbed version.

What Makes Him a Hate Sink?

• He siphoned 300 minds from SAO while the games were being shut down to use them as test subjects for his research.
• He tormented the said minds by using fear and terror-inducing technology with the end goal of world domination and obtaining profit.
• He only got close to the Yuuki Family due to their wealth, planning to siphon off their money after marrying Asuna.
• He made the Grand Quest of ALO inaccessible (for which many players devoted their all into clearing) just to get sadistic pleasure out of watching the other players attempt and fail to complete it.
• He tormented Asuna by sexually harassing her and deliberately trying to crush her hopes of ever being free.
• He sexually assaulted and attempted to rape Asuna while making Kirito watch after restraining him with an over-powered Gravity spell.
• He tortured Kirito by intentionally lowering the Pain Absorber and planned to lower it further.
• He attempted to kill Kirito after logging off from ALO after he managed to defeat him.
• He tried to pin all his crimes on the deceased Kayaba.

• He is one of the two Sword Art Online Hate Sinks along with Kuradeel and Atsushi Kanamoto.
