| “ | Fear; a Jedi spends his whole life training against it. But at the Citadel, breaking Jedi is our specialty. Within these walls, they will learn to fear us. If not, they die. | „ |
| ~ Osi Sobeck |
Osi Sobeck is the main antagonist of the Citadel arc in Season 3 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. He is a Separatist officer and the sadistic warden of the Citadel, a prison on the planet Lola Sayu.
He was voiced by James Arnold Taylor.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He takes sadistic pleasure in capturing Jedi and Republic prisoners at the Citadel and torturing them.
- He doesn't care about the droids under his command, shown when he orders a commando droid to shoot another one who mentioned the word escape and threatened and strangled his tactical droid K2-B4 for accepting a transmission from Count Dooku without informing him in advance. He also shows no care when his pack of Anoobas are killed.
- He follows Dooku more out of fear than true loyalty, as he is willing to withhold information from him that may anger Dooku.
- When Even Piell refuses to break, Sobeck allows his torture droid to nearly remove his one good eye, which would've succeeded if not for the Jedi rescuing Piell in time.
- After capturing Piell's half of the rescue party, he shoots a clone trooper and intends to kill the rest of the clones as well one by one in front of the Jedi unless they reveal the location of the other half of the team.
- He causes two clone troopers to be brutally killed through his traps to prevent the Jedi and their forces from leaving the Citadel and orders the destruction of the ship they intended to leave in, which results in some more clone casualties and the apparent death of Echo.
- He sent his Anoobas after the escapees, leading to one of them biting Master Piell to death and nearly killing Ahsoka Tano as well, which she prevented by Force pushing it.
- He tried to throw Tarkin into a lava lake for refusing him the information he wanted, only to get his comeuppance of being stabbed in the back by Ahsoka. While Tarkin ended up becoming far worse than Sobeck himself, he had yet to commit his most heinous actions and there was no way anyone could've foreseen them at the time.
