What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- Percy loves to abuse inmates who are on death row for no reason.
- Sadistically kills Mr. Jingles, Del's mouse, who most of the inmates and guards form an attachment towards, not caring about their feelings.
- Due to his cowardice, Percy doesn't stop Wharton from nearly strangling Dean to death.
- During Del's execution, Percy purposely causes Del to die an agonizing and painful death by electrocution.
- While William Wharton is far more evil than Percy and is also a hate sink, Wharton at least has a few comedic moments. As such, Percy is the the only character in The Green Mile to be taken completely seriously by the narrative.
- He also represents one of the worst sides of corruption in where people who have power only use it to satisfy themselves and not once think about others.
