“ | Kitty Softpaws: Why are you so ridiculous, dog? What's your story? Perrito: My story? Oh, it's actually a very funny story. [laughs] Back when I was a pup, me and my litter mates lived with a family. A family full of pranksters who liked to play hide-and-seek, and I was always "it". Pick on the little guy, am I right? They tried putting me in a packing crate, a dumpster. No matter how hard they tried, I'd always find them. So one day, they get creative and they put me in a sock with a rock in it. [Perrito starts laughing] And then throw me in a river! [Perrito falls over as he was laughing, with Puss in Boots looking worried at Perrito] Perrito: I gnawed a hole in the sock and I swam to the surface! [Puss and Kitty both look horrified] Perrito: Never found them or my litter mates, so I guess I'm still "it"! [laughs] Kitty Softpaws: Wow, that is the saddest funny story I've ever heard. |

~ Perrito talking about his backstory to Kitty Softpaws and Puss in Boots. |
Perrito's Unnamed Former Owners are minor antagonists of DreamWorks' 43rd full-length animated film Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, a spin-off of the Shrek franchise.
They were the family that previously owned Perrito before he resided at Mama Luna's house. They were abusive towards Perrito, as they tried to abandon him on numerous occasions before deciding to lastly trap Perrito in a sock with a rock in it, before tossing him over a bridge into a river as an attempt to drown him at one point. However, Perrito escapes from the sock, and has been long lost since.
What Makes Them Hate Sinks?[]
- At a time prior to the events of the film, Perrito's former owners would attempt multiple times to leave Perrito at different areas before abandoning him there due to seeing him as a nuisance. Even though Perrito is still a puppy back then.
- Even though Perrito would always interpret their actions as a game of "hide and seek", with his owners being "pranksters" and Perrito always being it, this doesn't detract on how horrible and abysmal the owners were to him.
- They would try abandoning him in an packing crate, a dumpster, and possibly some other different places. This shows how neglectful the owners were and how willing they were to abandon Perrito, who was just a puppy back then.
- One day, after the family got so fed up with him of always coming back that they decide to trap Perrito in a sock with a rock inside of it before throwing him in a river at hopes to drown him. However, Perrito thankfully survived this as he has gnawed his way out of the sock and manages to escape, later growing large enough to convert the sock into a sweater.
- Even though Perrito managed to prevail through this tough time, when he told them about his story about them as a "funny" story while being cheerfully ignorant to the fact that they attempted to abandon him before trying to murder him, Puss in Boots and Kitty Softpaws both became horrified about how horrible that they treated him, with Kitty telling Perrito, that it was "the saddest funny story [she's] ever heard".
