Philip Dayton L'Eyre Montserrat is a minor character in the Overlord series. He is a noble and the leader of the New Faction.
In the original Japanese, he was voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, while Aaron Campbell dubbed him in English.
What Makes him a Hate sink?[]
- While was neglected as a child being favored by his two older brothers, it doesn’t excuse any of his actions one bit.
- When he found out his older brothers were killed in the Katz Plains Massacre by Ainz Ooal Gown, not only did he show zero remorse but was glad for it to happen to be the sole heir and even thank him for it in front of his own father.
- Attempted to hit on Albedo, delusionally thinking he could win her over for power while making perverted remarks about her.
- When Ainz faked his death, he thought delusionally by marrying Albedo he would be the next ruler of the Sorcerer Kingdom.
- He organized a robbery on a transport that the Sorcerer Kingdom intended for aid to the Holy Kingdom, thinking he would be the hero by reselling it as his own, thinking the only consequences would be a minor invasion near the border region with his domain safe. Instead, it triggered a full-blown war.
- He was so foolish and stupid that even brilliant minds like Albedo, Demiurge, and Princess Renner were shocked by his actions and realized he was too stupid to be manipulated.
- Was unpunished as even after being caught, he was protected by King Ramposa III thinking he was charmed, and drank his problems away, blaming everyone else for his problems.
- He is indirectly responsible for the Re-Estize Kingdom being destroyed, leading to the deaths of many innocent people in the war by the Sorcerer Kingdom. All of his peasants, members of the New Faction, and his father were all killed by Albedo.
- He delusionally thought Albedo would save him, only to cowardly break down when she revealed she hated him and showed the dead bodies of everyone in his Domain, the heads of his two allies (his father's included in the Anime), and the entire population impaled on stakes (Simple bloody murder in the Anime with blood all over the domain). Most of them were innocent people who did nothing wrong and didn't deserve to die, making him responsible for their deaths.
- Albedo originally thought leaving some alive to kill him to vent their hatred of him but thought it would be too boring, had she gone with this idea, it would been played for satisfaction and karma.
- He was given a much worse fate by Albedo at the request of his father, who was killed by her, to make him suffer as much as possible. His tragic backstory fails to hold up this point to where his seemingly brutal death is not played for sympathy, but instead for satisfaction.
