What Makes Them Despicable	Made Iroh's time in jail miserable for the wise, sweet old man (at least Azula has some respect for her uncle's iron will, genius intellect and prodigal strength)
"Love to hate" factors	he did seem to develop some villain respect for Iroh after being defeated

Poon is the true main antagonist of "Sokka's Master" and the "Day of Black Sun" double episode. He is voiced by Wayne Duvall, who plays other characters. He is a bullying prison guard who mocks his prisoners to boost his ego and for no other discernible reason (nor is he particularly good at it either).

What makes him a Hate Sink?

• While only a standard bully, Poon is treated coldly seriously from beginning to end and has no redeemable or human factors (or comedic moments for that matter) at all/is only in it for his glory.
• Iroh beating the daylight out of Poon on his grand escape is played for satisfaction, as he deserved it.
• Even rude to the self-loathing Zuko, which the latter took no lip to.
• It is possible (though unconfirmed) Poon ratted on Zuko visiting Iroh in jail to Azula to spite both.
• whereas Hou Ting at least had influence, the late Walker Edmiston gave an excellent performance as Azulon and was a prodigy like his granddaughter and two sons, Azula has some humanity and Grey DeLisle voices Daphne Blake (among many other roles), Poon has no Evil is Cool factors or complexity whatsoever.
• Him being weak and incompetent serves only to let viewer and other character alike safely hate him that much more (at least Long Feng succeeded until Azula, Mai and Ty Lee came to outwit him).
• To drive it all home, while Poon is an adult human, meaning he has Moral Agency, Azula and the main heroes are only children, making Poon's actions that much more inexcusable.
