Priestess Zayd is the main antagonist of the Japanese adult manga Reincarnation Colosseum. She is the arch-nemesis of Mikagami Kouji, and friend to Desmos Salamandis.
What Makes Her a Hate Sink?[]
- She has no real justification for committing her crimes, as the fact that she does it because she "hates weaklings" is too hypocritical and plays against her. The only reason for her evildoing is her narcissism and the idea that she is superior to others and is on the level of God, and therefore she wants to dominate everyone else, enslave her victims to horrible fates, enjoy their suffering in any form, and use others as pawns for entertainment, which is not a real justification in any way and makes her reason for doing evil extremely petty.
- She uses all those who are close to her, serve or are loyal to her as pawns, and shows no care or concern for them, since the only one who is important to her is herself, showing what a selfish woman she is at her core, who is ready to exhaust any of her pawns just to maintain her power.
- While she is said to be a "friend" to Desmos beyond mentions, there is no indication that Zayd sees Desmos as a friend, and in fact, given Zayd's personality, her "friendship" with Desmos is pragmatic anyway, as she is only friends with her due to the fact that she, through Desmos, still somehow retains power by not allowing the Colosseum and its rule to fade away.
- She is so heartless that she doesn't even love her family at all, as she treats her nephew Philly terribly, blackmailing him into joining her and doing her dirty work for her, otherwise she will tell his parents that he is stealing magical abilities and using them, and when she succeeded in doing this, she turned him into a woman named Fine, and already under her negative influence, Fine became a cruel and terrible woman, which she was not before.
- She is also indirectly responsible for Fine being raped for three days and impregnated by Mikagami, as she was a woman and according to the Colosseum's laws, the loser would have to be raped by his winner, although Zayd could have not turned him into a woman, as it is shown that men can fight in the Colosseum, but she did it to Fine purely for the sake of manipulating and mocking him, thus making him a scapegoat.
- It can also be assumed that she killed her nephew's parents, either when he had already become a formidable fighter, or after he became part of the Holy Four, since given Zayd's personality and the potential that Fine's parents could have opposed such a decision, it is entirely possible.
- Whenever her pawns has failed her, Zayd disposed of them like worthless trashes. As it demonstrated when she discarded Mary Landorott for being worthless, Marl Baroque for being dimwitted, Alice for being weak and finally Fine for being useless.
- When she lost all of the Holy Four, she blamed them for the defeat and insulted them all for being worthless, when in fact it was only her fault, as she herself is extremely bad at making a strategy to defeat Mikagami, the only thing she does is change the rules, which is useless, as it has no effect on Mikagami, as he used trickery as a way to win, and she has not learned from this mistake, continuing to do the same thing, which shows what an idiot she is.
- She imprisoned Zulu, and it is possible that she was a man whom Zayd turned into a woman and then raped or forced his subordinates to do so, which caused Zulu to have a personal vendetta against Zayd.
- She is very hypocritical as she considers normal humans and fighters with the ability to copy abilities (or weaklings in short) to be useless, but she is the epitome of this as she has never been shown to fight anyone and even her crimes she gave to others to commit while she sat on the throne and did nothing, proving herself to be a lazy person.
- Her laziness is also shown when she recruits Alexandros Byrne and gives him Chris Ena, seemingly forced against her will to fight, something she didn't even know she was doing, as a healer so he can defeat Mikagami. It is revealed that she is sitting in her mansion in the garden, still trying to remotely dispose of Mikagami and take back her power.
- While she seems to have some respect for the truly strong, this is most likely also hypocritical pragmatism in order to simply recruit more pawns for her use.
- Also, she herself showed dishonor when she started rewriting the rules of the battles in the Colosseum to not give Mikagami a chance to win, which is very mean and unfair
- Zayd is also responsible for one terrible rule in the Colosseum, which states that if a man loses, he will become a woman and the winner's slave. However, even if the man dies, he will be reborn as a woman, indicating that such a fate is inevitable and they are still doomed to a fate far worse than death. This decision eventually led to social sexual slavery in her world.
- In addition to bringing Mikagami to her world without his permission, citing "the Goddess chose him", she also bullied and tortured Mikagami when she realized that he had no skills and only a weak ability to copy abilities, demanding that he be sent to prison, ignoring Mikagami's own words that he was a simple gamer and by definition did not have super skills. When Mikagami first entered the arena with his first enemy, Zayd imagined Mikagami losing and becoming a female slave.
- This led to Mikagami becoming much worse as a person later on, turning into a perverted psychopath.
- Moreover, one of the artworks shows her raping Mikagami with very sadistic pleasure in her imagination, and considering that Mikagami is only 15 years old, this makes her an ephebophile.
- Although she developed insecurities after Mikagami defeated the Holy Four, this is a karmic blow and not an actual sympathetic quality, as she was insecure about possibly losing her power and as a result, many dirty privileges.
- She cowardly escaped arrest when they stopped taking her seriously and began to doubt her authority, so as not to suffer any punishment.
- She is responsible for all the bad things that happened in the manga, whether directly, indirectly, by proxy or caused, and she herself does not feel any remorse for any of her misdeeds, but on the contrary, is proud of them.
- She doesn't have any comedic timing like the other villains, and she's not really put in a bright light, with the characters taking her completely seriously most of the time.
- While she does have a few "Evil is Cool" moments, particularly in her villainous breakdown, they aren't enough to save her from all the hatred that's infused into her.
- She is easily the most disgusting and hated character in the manga, not only in terms of actions but also personality, having absolutely no redeeming qualities, being shown as a hypocritical, psychopathic, narcissistic, cruel, mean priestess who disgraced herself by showing her true colors, after which she is immediately despised by everyone for what a pathetic hypocrite she was all along.
