Prince Achmed is a minor antagonist in Aladdin. He is a cruel prince visiting from another land, and he is one of Princess Jasmine's suitors.
He was voiced by Corey Burton, who also voiced the Galalunan Commander in Sym-Bionic Titan and the Ringmaster in Disney's Villains Revenge.
What makes him a Hate Sink?[]
- When two poor children accidentally end up in front of his horse, instead of showing concern for the fact that that his horse could have trampled and hurt them, he attempts to whip the "filthy brats" for getting in his way. This is incredibly cruel.
- When Aladdin rightfully stops him from whipping the children and calls him out on his complete lack of manners befitting a prince, Achmed knocks him into the mud while the cruel citizens laugh.
- Aladdin's insult toward him is meant to be seen as well deserved. Even the very same citizens who laughed at Aladdin mere seconds ago find this funny and laugh at it to Achmed's expense.
- He tells Aladdin that he was born a worthless street rat and will die one, only being mourned by his flees.
- Even his horse is made to look as mean and pompous as his master, and appears just as unsympathetic.
- While the scene with part of his pants being ripped by Rajah and his underwear exposed is meant to be seen as funny, the humor is at his expense and serves as his karma for trying to whip the two children and pushing Aladdin into the mud earlier.
- Unlike Jafar, he has no cool features or charisma.
Trivia[]
- The part where Aladdin calls him a "horse with two rear ends" is a rare bit of adult humor in a Disney movie, as Aladdin is essentially calling him a horse's ass.
- His counterparts from the Once Upon a Time show and the 2019 live-action remake cannot qualify, as they are much more sympathetic. His OUAT counterpart doesn't do anything wrong and is turned into a stick by Jafar, which makes him an innocent victim in that version, while his remake counterpart, Prince Anders, is a bumbling but well-meaning and friendly man.
