Principal Abacus Cinch, simply known as Principal Cinch, is the main antagonist of My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Friendship Games. She is the former headmistress of Crystal Prep Academy.
She is voiced by Iris Quinn.
What Makes Her a Hate Sink?[]
- She was already arrogant and prideful prior to Equestria Games movie, as she was confident over the fact that Crystal Prep are definitely undefeated winners of Equestria Games for four years, in fact, she views Canterlot High School's recent boost of their academies and athletics as a threat.
- Negatively influencing her students into following her suit, yet chose to allow them to bully Sci-Twi. She also doesn't show her care towards them, treating them like nothing but pawns.
- Threatened Sci-Twi to revoke her application for an independent study program if she didn't compete in the Equestria Games.
- Showing her disdain towards Canterlot High and its choice of competitors.
- Prevented the Crystal Prep from getting along with Canterlot High by interrupting their welcome party that they hold for their rivals to ensured that her school will win like it always has.
- Tried to accuse Principal Celestia of cheating though she claimed that the end of a game is a tie.
- Seeing the magic in Sci-Twi's amulet, she and the Crystal Prep students pressured her into releasing a magic from the amulet to use it to win the Friendship Games, justifying it for fighting with fire. However, this led to her transforming into Midnight Sparkle, resulting herself to be responsible for its creation. She then cowardly retreats to avoid taking responsibilities for it by calling her a "monster".
- Witnessing the Humane Six using their magic to return Sci-Twi back to normal, she tried to demand Principal Celestia to forfeit the Friendship Games for unfair advantage of magic usage. However, when her students turned against her, she then worriedly says that she plans to report the school board for the incident, but Celestia replied that they won't believe her story.
- Her actions and being responsible for the creation of Midnight Sparkle were so cruel that it led to the Crystal Prep students turning their backs on her.
- After Midnight Sparkle's defeat, Cinch claims Canterlot High cheated with magic and demands they forfeit the Friendship Games. Both schools counter that her actions led to Twilight's corruption. Cinch dismisses their accusations but is ridiculed when Spike points out their validity.
- She threatens to report to the school board, but she is mocked by the others, who point out that the board wouldn't believe her claims about "magical students with wings, portals to different dimensions, and a talking dog", with Spike sarcastically telling her that it would never ruin her reputation.
- Instead of admitting her mistakes, she then leaves Canterlot High with a calm dignity to save her face, seemingly never gets comeuppance as result. Despite this, it is implied that her actions are what led her to be replaced by Dean Cadance as a new headmistress.
