Professor Flintheart is a minor character in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic who serves as the overarching antagonist of the season six episode "A Hearth's Warming Tail".
Despite having a minor role in the episode, he plays an important role of turning Snowfall Frost, the main character of the story, into becoming a bitter and cold-hearted pony as she is and losing her interest on Hearth's Warming who wants to get rid of the holiday before she was encountered by the Spirits of Hearth's Warming to taught her how the holiday means to her.
He was voiced by William Samples.
What Makes Him Hate Sink?[]
- He is a cruel and heartless teacher who harshly berated students into focusing on their studies and cast away the notions of fun and entertainment, making the students felt upset and miserable. One of the students he would abuse is Snowfall Frost. There are no explanation why he was acting like that, but if he has, it wouldn't justify his actions at all.
- At Hearth's Warming Eve, he cruelly tells Snowfall that the Hearth's Warming is "just a story they tell little ponies" and told her to study to become a powerful unicorn instead of spending time having fun with anything including celebrating holidays like Hearth's Warming while destroying the ornaments and throwing away Christmas decorations in the trash. It was so heartbreaking that made the audience felt bad at Snowfall and get angry at Flintheart for what he did to this poor filly.
- His harsh attitude towards Snowfall Frost has turned her into a cold-hearted, lonely and miserable pony as she was and spending time studying magic and loathing Hearth's Warming instead of spending time and having fun with other ponies. As she reached into adulthood, Snowfall rejects Snow Dash's offer to join her party at Hearth's Warming Eve and creating a magic spell that would successfully get rid of the holiday from Equestria forever. When the Spirit of Hearth's Warming Yet to Come showed her the future, Equestria was successfully covered in deep snow and the windigoes above, making him indirectly responsible for what happens if she succeed in removing Hearth's Warming forever. It is possible the ponies are buried deep inside the snow as well. Luckily, Snowfall is able to have a change of heart and decide to appreciate the holiday later on thanks to the Spirits of Hearth's Warming, thus foiling her former teacher's harsh actions and reforming herself from keeping that nasty attitude of hers.
- It is implied that he wanted to make his students became power hungry by telling them to study magic instead of having fun.
- He is a killjoy, as he hated fun and entertainment including holidays like Hearth's Warming, which is one of the reasons why he is responsible of Snowfall for hating the holiday.
- Despite him turning Snowfall Frost into a cold and bitter pony as she is today was backfired, he doesn't face his comuppance for his harsh treatment towards her and wasn't even mentioned if he did or not in the later episode.
- Befitting to his name is overall personality is very cruel, always hating fun and entertainment like holidays and also no-nonsense.
- He lacks any redeeming and likeable qualities whatsoever, which he is taken 100% seriously.
- He can be represents of what would Snowfall Frost would've become if she lets her cold and bitterness and her hatred on Hearth's Warming consumed her inside if it wasn't for the Spirits of Hearth's Warming. While Snowfall finally redeemed herself from her past mistakes, Flintheart is remained cruel and heartless individual who doesn't move on from the past.
