Queen Usurna is a major antagonist of the Tales of Arcadia franchise, serving as a major antagonist of the first installment, Trollhunters, and a background antagonist of it's third installment, Wizards. She is the Queen of the Krubera, a tribe of trolls that live in deep caverns underneath the world and is one of Gunmar's highest ranking minions, being an overall fanatic of him so she can gain more power.

She was voiced by Angelica Huston, who also portrayed the Grand High Witch in The Witches.

What Makes Her a Hate Sink?[]

  • She only cares for herself and not the very people she rules, the Krubera, and gaining power also, planning to rule alongside Gunmar, the Gumm-Gumm, as the sole purpose to satiate her power lust.
  • She selects many Krubera younglings for Gunmar to be his champions, aka child soldiers, simply to impress him, to which she has them kidnapped and separated from their families, to which they train in harsh conditions to the point having some deformities one way or another, for example Aarrrgghhh!!! who suffers from impaired vocabulary thanks to this. Worse is she blatantly disregards them as she tells what's the lives of a few younglings if she can rule alongside Gunmar.
  • While not exactly hateable when she was thought to be a hero, it should be noted she still has her soldiers paly in Pyro-Bligst, a game where the players are allowed to kill each other to win.
  • Upon hearing Jim entered the Darklands, she and the rest of the Troll Tribunal plan on destroying the bridge and sinking its pieces to the bottom of the ocean to prevent the Trollhunter's escape, and even Gunmar's release despite him being her only superior.
  • When Jim's friends, Claire and Toby, managed to rebuild the bridge somewhere else, Usurna went to the bridge to release Gunmar herself and then frames Jim for it, arranging a trial for him for him to be punished.
  • Upon imprisoning Jim, she gives him a choice of surrendering the amulet if hew ants to be pardoned to whcih it will be destroyed, despite him needing it to protect the world from Gunmar's threat.
  • She and the rest of the Troll Tribunal pelt Toby wit stones to which whoever hits Toby will state their arguments against his claims on Jim's innocence.
  • Continuously called NotEnrique an "it" despite him telling multiple times that NotEnrique is an "he", which shows her xenophobia against changelings.
  • When Vendel received the evidence after Blinky accidentally blew up Krax, she coldly poisons Vendel with Creeper Sun poison which slowly kills him as he turns to stone, which happens to nearly every troll, except changelings when they can still change to their human forms, once they die, to which Usurna gives a sarcastic apology to him that she couldn't have him witness Gunmar's return while he is in huge pain dealing with the poison before she taunts his stone corpse on his end before using his own staff to tip his corpse and shatter it and then tossing it aside.
  • When the rest of the Tribunal are having another session to discuss about the verdict, she lies about Vendel not telling about any evidence to her and that he told the Trollhunter would only be desperate, to which she says they certainly expect the accused to say that it is a lie, and has the Tribunal give the verdict despite Jim saying to stop saying 'we' when Vendel is not here, to which Usurna refuses as she sentences Jim to exile to the Deep where he will be murdered by his greatest fears.
  • The moment before she orders to lower the cage Jim has to the deep, she says that if it is any consolation, that his actions are a violation of Troll law for only one reason, because he is human, demonstrating her xenophobia against humans.
  • In the next episode, Usurna reveals to Trollmarket that the Trollhunter is dead, and so is Vendel, as she then pins Vendel's murder onto Jim, rallying everyone against him and ushering she will bring a new era as she gives the power of Trollmarket to Gunmar and reveals his return.
  • She smiles as she witnesses Gunmar using his Decimaar blade to brainwash fellow Troll Tribunal member, Bork, and enslave her to his will, and helps Gunmar in doing the same with the other trolls present, and that is because she was a coward trying to cover up the fact that she wasn't able to kill the Trollhunter.
  • Out of sheer fanaticism, she leads Gunmar to the Heartstone so he can drain magic from the Heartstone to regain his strength.
  • Has the soldiers seal all exits of Trollmarket in order to escape Gunmar's wrath for failure to kill the Trollhunter, and has them show no mercy when they try breaking into the Gyre Station and kill all the fleeing trolls.
  • Continuously screamed Morgana's name despite it being cursed out of anger when she dismissed DIctatious' worries of Morgana touching her ear to be lies and believing her to be a myth, to which Morgana speaks through the phonograph.
  • In order to save her skin and cover up Dictatious' fraud on his visions granted by her, she throws the phonograph.
  • When Dictatious' lies were revealed and she begs Usurna for help before Gunmar tries executing him, she hypocritically calls him a liar as a way to save her skin.
  • When Gunmar asks about it, she quickly weasels her way out by saying it is an act of desperation.
  • Suggested Gunmar to use nuclear weaponry against mankind.
  • Orders the Goblins to assassinate Dictatious.
  • Has Nomura ambushed by her Krubera soldiers as an effort to kidnap her and bring her to Gunmar to release Morgana, to which the fight proves to be brutal with Nomura's injury after her fight.
  • She does show concern when it appeared Nomura was going to commit suicide, it was only because she needs someone to help her master release Morgana, especially considering her proven xenophobia against changelings.
  • Wore the Glamour mask as a way to manipulate Strickler into releasing Morgana, and scowling when Strickler manages to see past this and removed the mask.
  • Has the Quagawamps sign a deal with her so they can be offered protection so they can be under Gunmar's rule.
  • Has Aarrrgghh!!!! tortured by her bodyguards to teach a lesson to everyone if they defy her.
  • Asks Aarrrgghh!!!! why he isn't fighting back, to which he doesn't want to fight the Krubera as they are his family and that they follow orders from traitors, to which she tosses him to the other side of a mud pit.
  • Taunts that a leader must take sacrifices to Aarrrgghh!!!! as she sadistically reveals the truth of his abduction by Gunmar and that she selected him, and blatantly telling the lives of few younglings won't matter if she could rule alongside Gunmar. Her own bodyguards were shocked by this.
  • When Aarrrgghh!!!! told that she doesn't care for the Krubera, just herself, she egotistically told that she is the Krubera before attempting to drown him in the mud pit before one of her guards save him.
  • When her own bodyguards rightfully turn against her, she berates them for betraying her and commanding them to stand down, to which they refuse her order and push her towards the swamp, before begging them for help as she slowly sinks and drowns to her death while calling them idiots and stupid brutes and that she will make them pay, to which her bodyguards leave her to die for what all she did.

Trivia[]

  • Understandably, she is the most hated villain in the entire Tales of Arcadia franchise, the only villain who even came close is just Colonel Kubritz, who while very hateable, ultimately redeems herself.
  • She, General Morando and Zong-Shi are the only three villains from the Tales of Arcadia franchise to be a Hate Sinks.
