“ | You listen to me, woman. Every day I mop up after your bleeding heart. The only reason you even EXIST IS BECAUSE I KEEP YOU! I know your type. No kids, no man to f**k you. So you go around outraged, sticking your nose up other people's a**holes, SNIFFING THEIR BUSINESS. You missed your boat, Holloway. You're all dried up inside there, aren't you? That's your f**king problem. | „ |
~ Quentin after Holloway calls him a "Nazi". |
Quentin McNeil is the main antagonist of the 1997 Canadian science fiction psychological horror film Cube. Initially presented as the most collected of the survivors in the Cube, his true abusive and unhinged nature comes to light as the film progresses.
He was portrayed by Maurice Dean Wint.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- Judging by his blood-covered hands when he is introduced, it's subtly implied he has already killed other survivors before he joined the group.
- He's misogynistic and ableist. He demeans women like Holloway as golddiggers before slapping her in the face and then later outright calls Kazan a "retard".
- He fakes trying to save Holloway only to then drop her to her death out of sheer spite.
- He tries to rape Leaven, who's likely a teenager and can't be older than 20.
- Just when it seems like all the remaining protagonists will escape the cube and live happily ever after, Quentin returns and fatally stabs Leaven and Worth with a broke-off metal door handle.
- He sadistically taunts Kazan with his dislike of the color red (i.e. his own blood-covered body) before trying to kill him with his bare hands.
- If Holloway's accusations are correct, he was an abusive husband and father before being put in the cube.
